NBC       1 HR       Sci-fi drama    Jonathan tucker  Riann Steele

 Prickly Bryan and empathetic Finola are two agents partnered  together to investigate pieces from a destroyed alien spacecraft and it’s effects on the human population. While they learn to trust each other against their manipulative CIA and MI6  bosses who urge them to spy on each other and the radical group Influx  dedicated to acquiring the alien tech on the black market to keep it from government control. They go state to state to investigate various ‘disturbances’ which I’ll highlight a couple later. 

Tantalizing opening teasers, Adventure, suspense  amplified by an electronic score. 

Debris’ purpose is to inspire awe and maybe hope, whereas the X-files was supposedly to terrify. (Sorry never saw anything ‘terrifying’ in that. We never see aliens in Debris, just their space litter. 

Finola believes the Debris can benefit humanity while Bryan just wants to keeping hands.  the falling flotsam out of the 

So its may not be so much the truth is out there but more that its within us. And that there’s still magic to discover in this world 

1. Pilot

“3 years ago images were captured of an erect alien spacecraft moving through our solar system. Now for the past 6 months debris from that spacecraft has been falling to earth.

 

Ragnarok

Wherever I originally read the plot summary, it did not sound interesting to me, then I see “based on the Norse myths” and I figure I watch it…so I shall see.

The Viking Ragnarok starts with natural disasters and culminates in the great battle between Gods and Giants

(the gods=order meanwhile the Giants = Chaos often associated with a rash and destructive nature)

I get the feeling however that this is taking place AFTER Ragnarok for some reason.

The series takes place in Edda, Norway which is experiencing warm winters and violent downpours and so seems to be headed for another Ragnarok — unless someone intervenes in time.

Some of Thor’s enemies remain in the guise of humans, the Jutul family (Fjor, Nan, Vidar and saxa). Of course the way old money goes, they own the town as their company is what provides most if not all of the jobs. So how is anyone supposed to fight against that, not to mention the environmental pollution that is killing its citizens in their 30s or 40s?

There a mystery aspect to this along with beautiful cooling views of snow-capped mountains and Glaciers. (quite nice for a summer watch)

Fjor, Turid, Saxa, Gry, Lauritis, & Magne

The day Magne, brother Lauritis and mom move to Edda, Magne helps an old man in a mobility scooter in front of a store. The man’s wife (I suppose) goes to thank him and touches his forehead. I was in the middle of reading the Norse Myths AGAIN (I think this is the 3rd or 4th book I’ve bought) and I had just finished one of the stories which this scene felt very similar to. I think it was the ‘Odin goes a wandering’

What to watch during the Covid-19 Lockdown

I’ve received this question quite often on Quora, so I thought to just make a list as I’m sick of racking my brain over and over again.

I forget how I started to watch this. Maybe when Battlestar Galactica (original) was on the station is how. Either way its ‘classic’ Horror or scifi movie. I’ve seen the original Invisible Man, and many old Black and white and even older color movies.  He makes corny jokes, but that’s part of the charm.

The Rain

Have you ever watched a show then unwillingly watched it again because you completely forgot that you watched it? That’s what happen with me. I believe I watched this last summer, but could not find it listed in my watch list from last year  Netflix  summer 2018.

In this Danish post-apocalyptic series, A pair of siblings fight to survive on their own in a bunker after their father brings them and their mother there;  before the rain carrying a brutal virus wipes out most of the population. The two young sibling, Rasmus and Simone embark on a search for food and safety.

Before he leaves Dad lets Simone know that she must take care of her brother at all costs, “he is the key to all of this”

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

(Read this as fast as Rory and Lorelai talk!!! or as fast as you can)

The series which started in 2000 set in the idyllic  but quirky Stars Hollow about a fast talking caffeine addicted, perky (but not too), equally sarcastic, quick witted Pop culture referencing  mother and daughter duo.

The original series final  season in 2006 or 2007 with the WB (now CW) network’s airwaves. There was some contract despute if I remember right after season 6 and Amy Sherman Palladino and Husband were not back on the series

The Gilmore ‘You’ve got a friend in Me” written by Carole King who sings the song “Where You lead”

Now I absolutely loved the series, and wish all mothers and daughters could have the relationship that Rory and Lorelai have (in a perfect world maybe); and while I was happy to hear it would be back with Amy Sherman-Palladino cause those seasons without her did NOT feel the same as those before she left. (The writing, tone or something wasn’t right and I think the reason I had stopped watching.

I was happy I would get to see my fave TV mom again but I was a bit skeptical as well, even with the original creator.  Would it still feel the same, would it now be dated (even though it would be a few new episodes)?

With the death of Edward Herrmann (Dec 2014)  and therefore Patriarch Richard Gilmore which catalyzes much of it, The limited series chronicles a year of transition, stagnations, derailments and renewals. It’s put together like

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

That opening scene with all the bodies WOW! Who or What (and how many) did that? What a bloody massacre!

The detective character reminds me of the Zany David Tennant or Matt Smith versions of Doctor Who. HE was Hired six weeks in advanced of the death of who hired him, to solve it.

Wait, did I just hear a Thor Joke?!? Oh just realized this is the first season and episode.

This does not seem like a mystery of the week deal, but does it take them the whole season to figure it out?

So I’m not sure what I think of the show, it will likely take me a few more episodes (when I can find them) to make a full decision, sadly I have not caught it on BBC America again.
