Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

2017   R  1:46  Mila Jovovich, Shawn Roberts,Eion Mackin, Ali Larter

Alive returns  to Raccoon city to fight against some of Unmbrella’s  new mutant monstrosities to be unleashed on the last of the human population.

“The End…..the end to my story”- Alice

so what this isn’t the actual end of the franchise, just Mila Jovovich? Will you see it without her, or would it just depend on who the new ‘alice’  oops sorry/.. lead is?

Oh crap was that a dragon? or a Turok……(Avatar creatur rip off)?

So the Capital building Looks rotted like a zombie Oh and then they copy off of walking dead with the HEAD-quarium, a bit of Star Trek’s Khan fight on the moving vehicle gods is anything original in this and not a knock-off/Nod to something else?

Erebus?? wait wasn’t that the vampire Bible in blade? Oh maybe they said Cerebus.. the 3 headed dog or something like that from Greek mythology right? So I’m waiting for it… and a mass of doberman’s….dead’mans (or I think they are) come out I was waiting even after this for some 3 headed or more dog! but end up disappointed.

I can tell you one thing I’ve always liked about the series… the monster or 2 of the movie!  They have had some freakish things that i commend the demented mind of whoever the creator(s) were for those monsters. The one in this is kinda creepy and scary at a certain angle otherwise it was laughable to me.

The ‘big scary’ as far as this point goes kinda reminds me of ‘Pumpkinhead’ (now that is a remake I’d like to see just don’t screw with the look of Pumpkinhead)  i just can’t tell ya who’s ‘prettier’

Well look at that Maiden Mother and Crone or as what’s his name (he’s in game of thrones as well)  The trinity of Bitches (yes I do allow that, its in the dictionary) as he put it

I think a question mark should be after the ‘Final Chapter’  but recently saw in entertainment weekly they have I think 6 more movies approved

Glad I didn’t see this in the theater would have been a waste of money.  Basically 2016-2017 reboots have failed it seems.  I will say I think Underworld bloodwars was more interesting to watch than this.

Freaked

1993  PG-13   Comedy,Sci-fi

Alex Winter, Randy Quaid, Megan Ward,Michael Stoyanov,

Brooke Shields, William Sadler,

and so many more imdb

Directed by Tom Stern and Alex Winter

Written By Alex Winter and Tim Burns

the 3 were involved with the MTV sketch comedy ‘Idiot box’ and Freaked is supposed to be retain that same brand of humor

I never watched the show but there are a few laughs in this.

Just as I think the opening credits are too long, they go off! Now I see why they put them at the end, or at least don’t do the credits like they used to in the beginning.

I didn’t know or at least remember that Winter was acting in this, so when they showed him I almost didn’t recognize him with the black hair.

basically if he’s not in Lost Boys or Bill and Ted costume I usually just stare thinking he looks familiar but having no idea why! I only realized it was him because he has writing and directing credits.

Bobcat Goldthwait voiced the sock head  and Mr. T makes a surprising appearance

I had this on my Netflix Queue but though I’d look up what’s in my SAVED (and netflix likely not getting) movies on

my StreamDor app  You get thousands of movies for free! The app is $1.99 but WELL worth it!

You can search movies by title, language  etc. If you are taking a foreign language class its great as you can watch movies likely in that language. I always enjoy hearing what other languages sound like.

If you are interested check it out soon as i am not sure if they delete movies out or not (I was looking one up they had once before, and it didn’t come up this time)

Now that all that is cleared up and I do apologize for a little babbling; The movie is about some celebrity Rocky Coogan, who is going to lend his name for some chemical Zygot (or something like that). He and his friend Ernie end up at a protest and upon seeing one of the activists Ricky falls for her. The three of them are traveling on the road when she learns who Ricky (in disguise) really is. They end up at a roadside Freak show and are conned into staying and becoming part of that freak show!

I thin you could say its a little campy, There’s a Freak ‘talent show’

I think I may have seen about a minute of this back inthe 90s SOme parts remind me of a certain band’s music videos. Then there’s Alex Winter’s Freak… and why I used the poster image I did and not another version. I’ll just say there’s a gremlins joke in there.

it was so~so… a few laughs  if it weren’t from the 90s I’d say it was Fresh

If you want to watch a movie without a bunch of CGI FX…. check this out, all costumes and prosthetics   C

Oh my… looking through the cast no WONDER why ortiz the dog (wolf?) boy sounded familiar!!

Monster Trucks

2017  PG  1:44 Live Action  Fantasy Sci-fy 1:44  from Nickelodeon Studios starring  Lucas Till, Rob Lowe and Danny GLover

Somewhere in North Dakota  Tripp’s (Lucas Till)  life changes when he crosses paths with a real-life monster after an oil rig drills into a water well hundreds of feet under the ground. Some creature is released unbeknownst to all but those who think they saw something.

Tripp works at the junk yard and works piecing together  his own wheels. Something is ripping a large hole in the trucks. Now imagine Toothless from How to train your dragon but sort of mixed with an octopus and  with teeth like a lamprey.

I don’t think this was a popular pick and can’t recall what was out at the same time but I know it did bad in the theater. Not sure on the reviews but frankly anyone who didn’t like the movie I think is an uptight prude (or Rob Lowe’s character or employ)

I thought the movie was sort of fresh , cute sweet, funny and FUN which in part means to actually be entertained (its different for each type of movie what being entertained is)  Anyone with a loving pet I think would enjoy this. t one point I thought it was better than a Cars movie plus they stick it to a big unethical Company!

Zoombies

2015   NR Horror 1:30  Ione Butler, Andrew Asper, Lala Nestor,Kim Nielsen,   more cast

A strange virus  quickly spreads through a safari park zoo called Eden which is an endangered wildlife refuge. WE

start in turning all the zoo undead. So now we all know this is a stop the creatures before they escape and cause more dismemberment and zombify everything in their path.

Being a fan of the tv series ZOO  (and trying to get my hand on a copy of the book) I thought I’d watch this as an appetizer before season 3 of the show.

one notable quote is

“It’s a zoo, NOT Jurassic Park”

Why hasn’t this been on Syfy or Chiller channel? I would have went nuts as it would have been a treasure to catch on there. Heck for all I know it could have been on there and I missed it.

One memorable part was the daughter in her mother’s office… where she is playing. I don’t want to set up the whole thing I’ll just say I will never look at a Koala the same way again.  actually you may not look at a lot of the animals the same way again. (and why I hope there’s never a zombie cats movie)

Arrival

2016    PG-13      Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Forster Witacker, Ian Donnaly     1:56

Adams plays linguist Louise Banks who is approached by the military for her language skills after the landing of multiple space craft ‘land’  all across the globe. They haven’t actually landed as last I checked, you need to TOUCH the land to do so, but more parked themselves hoovering feet above.

Not sure I should mention what the aliens look like but then that WOULD be a spoiler!

The movie starts out interesting enough, aside from the fact of all the ships ‘landing’ making me think it was going to turn out to be a knock off of Independence day. However the movie declines for me the last half of the movie.

The whole time I thought the governments and military should only be a support system as a small group NOT running the whole damn thing. The aliens speak in what looks like a bunch of Oroborus designs

Legion

FX     Wednesdays 10pm   Marvel         Dan Stevens Rachel Keller, Jean Smart,

Set sometime in the 1960s or 70s  by the looks of the styles.

Dan Stevens plays psychic David Haller who’s as usual in the X-men world his powers are both curse and gift. His father is supposed to be Charles Xavier The X-men’s Professor X!  It’s not a direct adaptation of the Marvel comics but it’s a trippy mesmerizing head trip that will stick with you.

David has some mind blowing explosive psychic powers which are equating into madness so because of his gifts, he is thought to be schizophrenic.

The nature of David’s psyche is that different people occupy his mind and have an influence on him at any given time, and so is institutionalized.  Where he meets and falls for fellow mutant Syd.  Since she does not like to be touched (because of her power) it’s a romance of the mind. David is rescued by therapist Melanie Byrd from the mental hospital and Division 3 (who the hell is division 3?) agents.

While Therapist Byrd insists what he sees is real,  the way it is filmed David nor the viewers are not so sure, aside from the maze of disturbing memories, or are they memories? Could they be future prognostications or a mind made mad from powers he has yet to learn to control?  How can one tell if we are in his reality or in his head? It’s not easy to watch, you need to give it your utmost attention to keep up. I usually put down my kindle to watch this being if you play games etc while watching it, you will likely need to re-watch it again.

He acts as both a force for light as well as dark at the same time in different ways. This is definitely a different type of ‘superhero’ show, and a break from all those others  DC or Shield wise. (Where do I get that psychotic bedtime story book?)

I would give a Binge worthy but the way the shows plays out, Your head might explode after watching 2-3 episodes in a row if you do!

Time after time

ABC Sundays 9       Sci-fi Drama       starring Freddie Stroma, Josh Bowman,Nicole Ari Parker, Genesis Rodriguez

Another Time Travel Show, Really?  This one though seems to have a better premise, not to mention is more purpose driven story to tell.

The two hour pilot  was enjoyable and man if the real Jack the Ripper was as yummy as this guy playing him…I could see why any lady would for victim to his charms. I need to watch a few more episodes to make my finally decision but I’m thinking that it will be a standout from the rest (Legends of Tomorrow,  Timeless, Frequency, if you want to count that one or that new Making History)

This series is a delightful spin on the sci-fi genre as well as classic literature and history. In 1893 London, Jack the Ripper aka Dr. John Stevenson played by  the delectably charming Josh Bowman who has been secretly slaying the ladies…quite literally. The jig is up and turns out his best friend H.G. Wells has created a Time Machine (untested).

Needless to say he steals the machine only for it to come back to Wells who follows and ends up in modern day Manhattan. Wells meets museum curator Jane Walker who is currently setting up a Wells exhibit  does not believe the wild story she hears when he’s captured by security. Once the strong willed curator has all the proof she needs that Wells is really who he says he is, she goes on the adventure of a lifetime and maybe a little romance as Wells seems quite smitten wit her.

There will be a bit of mythology which I can see being set-up through a few of the episodes. Maybe some easter eggs for those of you that have read the books (or have just heard about some of the stories) . The series looks like it will adapt or should i say crib off of some of Island of Dr. Moreau and the Invisible Man (I loved the old universal horror of that) to fuel the plot and place some twists.

I like this as it’s an ongoing story not, a full on time travel show where every week you are in… a whole new time zone, or as I in a sense see it… dimensional time zone  (as that is how I see time travel. We all have our lives we know, but there’s all those branches that coulda, shoulda, would, have been had we made another choice. To me if you go back it’s like another dimension, only if you change something in the past you could erase your existence or another’s…there’s a few things I’d like do over but which one to do first. But what are the consequences in going to and somehow changing the future?)
