The Alienist

The Alienist is a mysterious turn of the century period Drama     starring   Luke Evans, Dakota Fanning, Daniel Brühl

Mondays 9pm EST on TNT

The stars have been rarely if ever seen on the small screen.  Actually, I don’t think anyone of them has been aside from when their movies have aired.  Daniel Bruhl is Dr. Laszlo Kreizler an alienist, who may be an intuitively gifted doctor of criminal and child psychology. He is brusque and does not have a filter for brutal honesty, which is he works with the rich playboy Moore.   Evans plays John Moore who is an illustrator drawn into the doctor’s investigation from his gilded wealthy and empty life when Dr. Kreizler has him go check out a murder on the bridge. Dakota Fanning’s Sarah Howard is the (fictional) first woman to work with the New York police. She is the secretary to Commissioner Roosevelt (yes as in who was years away from becoming our president).  The three are enforcement outsiders with their own forensic methods, those of which we use today, however, they do not have official access to the case files which does not make things easy. Enter the brothers Lucas and Marcus Isaacson (played by Douglas Smith and Matthew Shear)  the brothers are I think were the coroners for NYPD but were ‘sidelined’ because they are Jewish.  They help the doctor by doing a post-mortem autopsy on a previous case and bring fresh ideas and a dose of comedic relief to the group.

The series is based on a Bonkers graphic Novel by Grant Morrison, about a former corrupt cop Nick Sax who becomes a hitman. The character is like a walking version of the movie CRANK!

He’s fueled by self-pity drinking and drugs.

Reading a preview from the TV guide, Meloni describes the show as “Roger Rabbit meets Quentin Tarintino

The first scene definitely fits the WTF! Had me cracking up. Meloni’s former detective is in a bathroom looking at himself, and well I won’t ruin it.

Haley goes to some ‘Wishies’ (who reminds me of Teletubbies)  kids concert with her mother, and invisible friend the blue unicorn HAPPY! Typical kid leaves parents side and I’m sure you can figure out the rest. She is kidnapped by a bad Santa (who at first I thought was swamp thing dressed as a decorated tree.

The Scaramucci’s are scheming against the former cop. Man if half the guys in the mob have the looks of most of these guys…I’m in. Oh darn… already a widow!

How many times did he just (possibly) die in the first 17 minutes?Apparently, his superpower is not staying dead.

Happy gives us a dizzying view of the city in his quest to find someone to help him, help save Hayley. When he finds Sacks in an ambulance after a shot of morphine. Whimsical, wacky and dark as well.

So the 2nd episode is much like the first, a crazy WTF! whirlwind of Happy the unicorn trying to get Sax to help him find Haley (and it’s for sort of twist reason). The show is funny, dray and dark humor included, you are not sure if you want to give Meloni’s Sax a beating or have a beer with him.

Unlike Sax, Skip the drugs, just watch the show!  But do enjoy a beer or your favorite beverage

Manhunt: unibomber

Discovery    8 part Limited series      IMDB page

Sam Worthington plays Jim ‘Fitz’  Fitzgerald

Paul Bettany as Ted Kazynski the unabomber

Chris Noth, Jane Lynch,Elizabeth Reaser

Jeremy Boob (who plays one in this a closed minded boob named)  Stan Cole

I sort of remember hearing the TV and radio news reports int he background of what was happening while I was in my teens (oops I just dated myself). Surprisingly the names involved sound familiar which is a surprise as I never listened, (Hey I was a teen with a life usually always just about back out the door the moment I come in… aside from any possible homework which I don’t remember having in H.s. and once out only came home to go to the bathroom or curfew.

While working the case Fitz is the only person that sees codes within the writing and gets so involved in the case he starts losing his family.  He’s the only one that sees the profile for the unibomber is beyond wrong. Of course there’s the close minded ‘boob’ (man I’m gonna have fun with tat actor’s name just feel bad for him for when he was in school!) who has had the FBI following the wrong lead for 2 years!  (Is it wrong for me to want to see the character lose his job?)

So I’m not big on theses old crime stories being made into tv shows or movies being we already had to lie through the endless news special reports and other b.s. fodder that went along with it. This I don’t remember much of, even those some of it I think happened I my teens. As I said there are a few things that sounded familiar.

I think I’ll have to give this a seal of approval, but I’m not sure which. I don’ have a mini series or limited event series as they are calling them now. I thought ‘wortho’ as I call him (Sam Worthington) was great, the series was engaging and after all it was only 8 episodes. So it’s worth a watch.

American Horror Story season 7:

SO you have

1- Murder House  (I keep calling it Hell House, maybe because of a book of short ghost stories I have)

2-  AsylumBinge worthy

3- Coven

4-Freak Show

6-  Roanoake and now

american horror story season seven plot reveals a modern day tale with paulson and peters set to return

In the first week we get a whole lot of clowns dancing around the AHS logo for the season. I hear our favorite wide smiled  (and most horrifying) clown will be back Then other teasers show up in the following weeks.. Are there any clues in them?)   Clowns, and honey Combs  seem to be the main symbols and to me there are some parts that remind me of A Clockwork Orange.

When I first heard that it was based on the events around the 2016  Presidential Election I thought great it’s going to be another season I don’t like.  Watching the teasers, I’m not so sure; even if they are very bleak and show nothing really about the story. At least not until the trailer came out maybe a week or a few days before with coming attracting for the first episode of the season.

I think I’m going to call this the year of the clowns! First Trump is President, then Cult is announced with Clowns and Stephen King’s It gets a remake with a Skarsgard as Pennywise.

So far I think season 1 and Coven were the best, but I also liked Hotel as well. One was because of the mystery, the other actual ‘horror’ besides I’ve always liked witches and mom calls me one! Hotel was basically put, was Vampires in a way (which I have always been infatuated with since I was little!) Freak show I enjoyed as well. The AHS clown IS the reason to be afraid of them just by looks…frankly I think he’s scarier looking than pennywise! Then when he takes the mouth piece off looks like a rotting jack O’lantern.

The biggest horror of the show this year is the Trump masks. I swear I want to put his face in a tub of bleach. That is the WORST fake tan I’ve ever seen! All the money he’s got he should be able to find someone that actually has a clue. Or did he get his skin ‘stained’. Of course I am angered they have to use the stupid election as a story base. as if his b.s. speeches do not interrupt my shows, as if they are so important (most of the time it could have waited to just be highlighted in the news. Stop tweeting about him, stop giving him the attention, he does not deserve it. Its just so he can make more money on his real estate etc ventures. I’m sick of hearing people say this… You don’t have to completely delete your accounts, just stop following that person remove the mobile notifications. Half the people that have tweeted about him since (and seemed only that I have unfollowed.)

As for the ‘Bingeworthy’ award… for me that excludes Asylum which I kept falling asleep while it was on! And I was so disappointed with Roanoke at reveal and after the season ended.

I do and don’t like the season so far but then I have only watched 2 episodes. I’m not digging that it takes place basically in current time, but the Freakish clowns I am digging! Turn out the lights and watch. I do think the ‘Cult’ has something to do with the clowns or maybe the blue haired character played by Evan Peters.  I am getting a kick out of Billie Lourde  who plays Winter and reminds me of what Wednesday from the Addams Family may be today. (The all black, especially that outfit in episode 2)  Only her hair is a grey/white color. She is quite creepy I will say that. Aside from her I don’t care much if at all for any of the other characters. I think she would be the only one I would actually miss (like I do Scream Queens and Scream series on Mtv)

Posting early and leaving room for improvement in my view. What are your thoughts on the ‘CULT’  season? Which was your favorite season?

American Gods … meet Neil Gaiman’s deities

Kristen Chenoweth, Gillian Anderson,Ian McShane, Peter Stormare, Orlando Jones, Pablo Schreiber, CorbinBernsen, Yetide Badaki,  Emily Browning, Bruce Langly, Ricky Whittle, Crispin Glover, Dane Cooke, Jeremy Davies

adapted from the New York best seller that was first published back in 2001 (and translated into 33 languages)

I’m not sure if this show sounds interesting to me, though when  saw a book titled of which (not sure if it was by Gaiman) but was interested in that, until I found out it was just a story, I a pile of reading books here I don’t need to add to it.

Its basically ‘What if America Created it’s own hierarchy of Gods born fro

m and nourished by the country’s obsessions like Technology.

The old gods who were brought to American shores by the Immigrants  find themselves scrambling to be remembered in a faithless America.

While Supergirl was on CBS, the only episode I watched was the Flash crossover. being as I watch Flash I figured it might be a good idea to watch in case something carries over from the Supergirl episode. With this one episode..

To me in the coming attractions and even this one episode I really could not stand the actress that played Supergirl,to me she came off as insecure/self conscious and there was something else I  still can’t quite pinpoint what it is or was, I could barely watch crossover episode, even with Flash in it.  Also I wasn’t crazy about the overall pace and storyline of the cross over.

So maybe others felt the same way as I in one way or another, and so with the show

Now on the CW for season 2, I thought I’d give it a try (well when its posted to the free on demand channel)

I still can’t figure out why CBS had the show in the first place, especially when all the DC comics shows are doing so well on the CW.

before I get to Supergirl herself  I will say I definitely did not like the actor portraying Superman…in this. I do wish ‘Smallville’ would make an appearance in some way ..sorry I should say Tom Welling and anyone else from that show, After all, this is a multi-earth/dimension universe. Well so far no ‘Smallville’ but we get Dean Cain!!!

So far she still comes off as… maybe its not insecurity but awkward to me and that’s WHEN she’s Supergirl. This is even as I finish writing this up in March (of season 2 with the finale likely to air in May). I would think the ‘Awkward’ and anything I didn’t like about a character or actor would have subsided by now. I do in a sense like the actress, she’s cute Kara wise, even when she’s perky and I hate perky but for her it works. There is still a little something there that bothers me when she’s Supergirl. I will also say the show is a lot easier to watch than when it was on  CBS.

Well if I didn’t watch it before or skipped an episode here and there… I’ve been making sure  I watch each week now that the charming Chris Wood (Vampire Diaries, Containment) in blatant CW fashion has yet again recycled (or is it re-purposed) him into another CW show. For him I’ll watch and see how his story arc goes. Plus I’m waiting for more crossovers of the collective shows…

I heard something about a possible musical but I don’t recall if it was flash and supergirl (which sounds really annoying to me) or maybe the crossover (nope… thankfully)… but I think a musical episode would have been better with Arrow (as long as John Barrowman was in it)

I do hope we get a mini movie with all the heroes in one show (one epiosde) at some point…maybe a 2 hour TV movie special. That would work well as a follow up on (or lead up to) a crossover story or the best way is to finish a season, and even better use for a series finale!

Hello @CW @DC do you hear me!!!! I’ve got some ideas for your show(s)!!! Make.It. Happen.!!!!

(Can we make the #ArrowMusical happen?  I saw @Stephen Amell & @JohnBarrowman singing at SDCC   (San Diego Comic Con)…

Definately IMPROVED (and saved)

BBC  S1.

Reluctant psychic/medium Alison who is burdened by her gift, butts heads with a psychology teacher (and former therapist) who is ‘treating’ her. Alison challenges his skepticism. He and some of his students sit in on some psychic symposium thing and Alison sees someone near one of his students, which is the little girl we see in the beginning.

Disk 1

In  More than meets the eye  a psychology class sits in on some psychic gathering. Where the reluctant Alison though refuses to come to at first, shows up. She picks out one of the students who is obviously freaked out, (as the psychic was spot on) and the student nose dives from there.

Lower than bones    Love the way it sounds, so suffice it to say it’s  my favorite title of the three. Alison helps a missing girl’s family.

Daniel one and two   This was the best of the three on the disk. It was a suspenseful mystery. Is Daniel being haunted or is he just delusional?

Disk 2

I didn’t list them but I think the first disk of episodes were most memorable.

The last episode on this disk still haunts my memory.  The episode alone is haunting, is she seeing the living or the spirits? We learn a bit more of her Train accident. Has she been dead this whole time?  It’s an interesting Drama but I think it only lasted for the 6 episodes.
