In the 90s when the series originally aired as ‘The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ‘ when I first saw the robot, I swore it was a live action version of Voltron, one of my favorite cartoons in the 80s (*yeah I’m dating myself)
I’d get home from school I’d sit down and watch the Power Rangers. I don’t know if there was an actually age range for it but I was in my teens and had big crushes on the Original Red and Green Rangers. I’ll put it this way, somewhere in my storage room there’s a box or 2 of VHS cassettes of the episodes with Tommy (the green ranger) I even bought his Martial Arts Video tape!
With the new movie coming (or already) out I thought it was time to start writing up the show as a classic. I think it debuted in 93 or 94…The show was called The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and there were 2 movies I remember, one in which had a big purple ‘raisin’ of a villain the other I think was Turbo, with a young boy as the blue ranger.
Some of the TV incarnations were not only the Mighty Morphin. but there was
Turbo, Dino Charge, that I remember, and Remember seeing the S.p.D., and I think R.P.M. ones in passing even with ‘Tommy’ in it. Looking up others.. there’s Ninja Steel, Zeo, and Mega Force. Check them all out here
As far as seeing some images from the new movie, I still like the old cheesey Rita Repulsa better but thankfully that head dress thing is GONE! I do like the use of green as I usually say green food is evil so that works with me. But not sure how I feel about the rest of it. I am however really pissed off they ruined Alpha 5. The TV version from the originals look better than this thing.

I’ve been intending on watching the series again at least until i saw the 30th anniversary 1hour event on Netflix. Ive been getting more and more of the it h to watch so pilot episode queued up (and on Netflix) Character Refresher Goldar Finster the monster maker The spiky blue hog is the flying monkey is baboo
Two astronauts release rita repulsa from her space dumpster along with her gaggle of …..goofy goons Finster, goldar, some bird and a boar i think it is naned squat Thanks to the 30th anniversary event i had to re watch the pilot…plus i missed bulk and skull in the 1 hour special which only had a billboard of their likeness. Also missed the red ranger Austin st. John, and those cheeks i always wanted … He had a baby face and i just wanted to grab him by the cheeks (on his face) and give him a big fat kiss. Theres an earthquake but really rita and aloha and Zordon beam up the 5 friends. Pink ranger amy jo johnson said during an interview well she made fun of herself the way she would talk as she was in her mid to late 20s at the time. So far Goldar is the monster of the episode Theres always rules to powers like this… 1. No using powers for personal gain 2. never escalate a battle unless rita forces you 3. keep secret and fight unless rita Watching this episode felt so quick. While i remember them being half hour long , i guess back in the 90s time felt slower.

Trini and kim fight against pollution by petition to clean up waste site… I feel like the fight is goung to go more way than one. The guys are willing to sign, but all jave previous engagements. You know i remember rita’s telescope lens seeing a bigger area. Minatour monster. I dont remember the triceratops horns doing that. Also i would swear there was more story to these (maybe later episodes) but seems more action. They get new weapons, trident for billy sword for jason bow for kim axe for zack and daggars for trini. And can put them together to make i guess a power cannon. Crossbow cannon… They call it a power canon
4 a pressing engagement
Jason tries to set a new weightlifting record and Keeps getting foiled Rita plans to separate jason from the others The silly goofs ate still funny. Especially when they happen to bulk and skull. king sphinx flaps his wings and sends kim and zack back to juice bar And its a double dose with a giant goldar as well The power crystals help find the others
5 different drum
Kim is giving an arobics(?) Class and Billy is going on and trips over the step equipment. One of the girls cant keep up, but turns out shes deaf and kim forgot to sign the moves. Some troll with a hypnotic accordion playd pied piper leading the kids to a cave. Kims deaf friend follows them then tries to tell jason.
6 food fight
I saw the title and emediately laughed at just my imagination if what this episode would be. Remember, i have not watched these sunce original airing. Ok a cultural food festival at the juice bar. Omg jason in the patriotic hat… Those cheeks Pudgy pig…ol its legs i mean arms come out of its mouth I think the whole achool is about to get detention. Billys outfit looks like hes dressed as chucky!!!
7 Big Sisters
Kim and trini ate big sisters to a girl named maria who is a mischif maker. Turned hot water off at gym Power eggs? …only a child can take the chest they’re in. 2 eggs from when good and evil began Chunky Chicken monster but looks more like a turkey to me Holy pints of cream… Look at the dize of that sundae Omg its the rad bug (which was in once and always… didnt remember this when i saw that) which can go 0-3000 Rita uses old school bike like a witches broom… Insert wicked witch from oz music
8 I, eye guy
Billy and the gang sample jr. science fair project by willy Kimberly seems bothered after the ‘ride’ the sound effects during their ‘handshake’ Bulk and skull get a makeover

Rita brings Trini’s fave doll to life Which looks like a tall troll doll

Open with them playing volleyball �� Baboo making and toiling trouble, then making like did the wicked witch if oz use an old school bicycle �� to fly? So what dies the potion do? Makes billy and kim jerks (a*holes) Next day in school, they have a whole new look. Terror Toad Looks like a bunch if industrial garbage bags are spread out for an other worldly practical effect.

I am still re-watching the original series but wanted to post in time for the Anniversary (even if a few days late) . This will be the main page for the power rangers and once I get into later seasons likely will have separate posts for each series.

The Green Rangers Dragon zord is definitely in my top 5 if not #1. (I love dragons so…and had a major crush on the green ranger when he first showed up on the show…even though Jason (red ranger had my heart and still does))

First off WHY is there not some sort of Turbo or something added to the end of this? We started with Mighty Morphin, Turbo and I can’t even remember everything else that followed
It looks stupid, doesn’t even sound like Alpha 5, this one looks like a hunk of junk compared to the original, even with the clearer picture etc. you Don’t mess with the original mythology or characters. Which leads me to Goldar’s Kaiju or whatever you want to call it in the movie looks so stupid! It’s now supposed to be the dripping pure evil of Rita Repulsa who in a sense I can respect the upgrade of the costume, and makes me laugh as I always say green food is evil and she’s in green. And there’s someone fool who thinks Banks is the perfect Rita... Honestly I like the campy original better, especially as this just reminds me of and seems like a gold version of the destroyer from the first Thor movie, only with wings. All this before I heard the first review of it from some News guy. (and note I don’t normally listen to them as they are paid to do so and likely told what movie to see I don’t believe they give a fair assessment) but being as I could already tell as an original fan it was crappy I listened in… He said something like he “gets paid to see good movies but earns it for seeing bad movies and he really EARNED his money watching this”

Toward end i do have a complaint... Stallones gun.. looks like the magazine (cartridge for bullets in case you didn't know) only had maybe 14 rounds. Goes way over, before we even see him change it. And it was not the long mags that come out past grips.

A young woman is courted and swept off her feet, only to realize a gothic conspiracy is afoot. And I think I’ve already figured out WHAT that is!!! OR maybe not so much figured, but either saw a tell in the trailer or my lets say instincts are telling me its ‘my kinds’ time to shine in the moonlight again!!!
I used to get home from High School get comfortable and sit and watch the show. It was the highlight of my day and possibly the only reason I got through some bullying. I was challenged a few times, showed up, then see my opposition notice I did and just walk on. Remember, Bullies are nothing but self conscious low self esteem cowards that bully you just to feel better about themselves.
I don’t know what they do in school these days other than tell a teacher or parent, and use your words. I will say one thing; sometimes you don’t need to be physical to ‘punch’ them. You can give them a verbal punch, Kick and slap with a good quip at their expense. or the truth.
My dad always told me never strike first (sadly its usually the retaliation that’s caught) but I also took Karate, though for a short time but within the first 2 month, while we were punching a board I got either pissed off at it or just overzealous and hit it hard that the black belt holding it went timber! Ever since that I’ve always been told I don’t know my own strength.

We are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the series which started in 1993 (and this incarnation ending in 1996) OG Blue ranger David Yost and black ranger Walter Jones and villain Rita repulsa is back with Johnny Yong Bosch (who replaced Jones in 2nd season), Catherine Sutherland, Steve Cardenas and Karen Ashley and welcoming Charlie Marsh as (state side) OG yellow ranger Trini’s daughter. Sadly this is the first reunion without the beloved green ranger Tommy played by Jason David Frank who sadly passed on Nov 19 2022.
The title is derived from the phrase “Once a ranger, always a ranger”
One fateful day in 1993, the evil sorceress Rita Replica escaped her space dumpster prison and attacked earth. Cheesy nostalgic goodness, o my the cg is cheap. Sadly Bulk and Skull did not return either, I missed Goldar, and scorpina) and aside from OG red Ranger Austin St. John (who became the gold ranger at some point, if I remember correctly) being in the military and the deaths of ‘Trini & Tommy’ what kept the others (Amy Jo Johnson for instance from just at least popping in? also what about the guy that played Justin the young kid that was the blue ranger? who was in I think the turbo movie) In a sense Im satisfied with it, but at the same time I feel robbed! I guess due to not everyone being in it (sans the dead. who I was robbed of my fave ON MY BIRTHDAY)

I do recommend this One of my faves so far and Nominee for my Avatar Awards when I get that going again.
If the kids want to watch, I recommend watching it first. I think there is at least some language.

Episode 8
A speeding hit and run gets the fire captain (Bodie's dad) stuck in his past. While the camp's cap Is not seeing things straight either. What to do when both leaders are incapable of doing so? Reason with, go over head or jump into it?
This will not just leave you hanging but the end gave me a fit. Very tense and best of season so far.
The episodes keep getting better, for those that like love triangles theres one in this.

When reg takes out the garbage he asks the higher powers for a refund, when Maurice shows up and heard part of his 1 sided convo... He enthralls him (better known as vamp glamor) into asking his coworker crush out.
Some fellow vamps pop in that have beef with Maurice. Something about defiance..

All credit goes to Entertainment weekly, But instead of rewriting it I thought I’d include what actually inspired this post.
You can just don’t spoil twists, ending or ‘deaths’ and that sort of thing.
Some like below would say 24 hours but with DVRs, I’d say give 3–7 days; however if you are speaking directly to a person ask them if they watched it before you discuss the show.
When I write a review I try to think if something will ‘spoil’ watching the show or movie for someone. If I’m not sure I’ll try to just give a hint (and maybe tip toe around it) without ruining things like Oh loved the twist, but I don’t say what it is, thought the fact there is one is sort of a spoiler but you are not giving anything major away. While cameos are sort of spoilers, sometimes I do mention them especially when I get jaw droopingly surprised. (I don’t impress easily so if it does then I can’t always help myself, otherwise I’ll just mention maybe that there’s a cameo (if I recognize them) I MIGHT say a show or something I know them from but try to resist mentioning who. (think of it as playing where’s waldo? I’d rather find them but sometimes even when I know they are in there, they are sometimes blink and miss them)
