Imaginary Mary

The half hour Comedy stars  Jenna Elfman, Stephen Schneider,Nicholas Coombe, Matreya Scarrwener, Erica Tremblay and last but not least the voice of Imaginary Mary… Rachel Dratch.

The coming attractions would have me laughing when Bunny (the youngest daughter) walks into the mail box and Mary yells “You broke it”  and as many times as that came on, it still tickled and made me laugh.

The premise as you may already know is Alice (Elfman) is dating Ben who decides he wants her to meet the kids. With this her old imaginary friend Mary pops back into her life so she can deal. Imaginary Mary, is cute and funny but I find her to be a little of a bad influence on Alice…but realy… can you be a bad influence on your own self?!

Bunny the little one, is so cute and too sweet she gives me that ate too much candy on Halloween sort of tooth ache. I think you’ll just want to give her a big hug.

At first the kids want nothing to do with Alice, though the son Andy does go to her to ask for advice like in the third episode as he wants to audition for the school play…Grease. His father is concerned as Andy gets really down on himself everytime his expectations are not met. The father eats his feelings worse than some of us women do! I can understand having some icecream after a break up to cool you down (from possibly making an ass of yourself) but why eat your feelings when if you have a shot or just get blitzed with a few drinks you wouldn’t be putting on the calories? (Plus the added incentive of a possible  puke fest afterwards to rid more calories)   and NO i’m not saying you should do this… you should find a ‘healthy’ way to deal like a workout, a punching bag, writing  etc. My ‘therapy’ hobby is usually some form of crafts. Also writing.

The first 1 or 2 episodes I watched one after the other, (on our free on demand channel)  and I’d say its definitely bingeable.  I think I have a few episodes to catch up with as well (I always forget what day or station it’s on) which is ABC

So definitely give  it a chance I think you’ll have a few laughs.

Prison Break: sequel

So the series (ahem) usual suspects… Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield , Dominick Purcell as Lincoln Burrows, Amaury Nolasco as Sucre,  Sarah Wayne Callies as Sarah Tancredi

There’s some new blood (and somewhat literally)  Mark Feuerstein  as Jacob anton Ness Sarah’s husband and Christian Michael Cooper who plays her son Mike (yes Scolfield and the Doctor have a kid)

Then there are the new prison pals of Scofield’s that we don’t meet in the pilot episode, however I ‘m sure we will be meeting them quickly as this is an ‘event series’ I believe I’ve heard 9 episodes so this should be a jam packed addition to the original series.

So the gang’s all here seven years later it’s 2017  and everyone has moved on. There seems to be a possible resurrection when it is learned that Michael is still alive after the events of season 4.

Basically the theme for episode 1 is ‘The dead talk’. T-Bag is released and upon receiving his personal affects also gets one last piece of correspondence, with a clue to what might be some surprising news, though in our case we already know from the trailers.

Yemen prison, Linc decides to break him out

Sarah:

Your dad was like a storm appearing suddenly

a storm can be beautiful, frightening, mysterious.

They show up in your life and then just disappear

Michael Jr.  -but storms can come back can’t they?

and sarah…as the previews showed/asked

question is… if they come back, is it the same storm?

So while watching the pilot of this event series I thnk it felt as though I was watching the original. THe mystery, what will happen, who of the original cast will we see and the feeling when you see them. Welcoming old friends or family you have not seen in years. Honestly, I didn’t realize how much I missed them, mostly Sucre.

T-bag… he who you love to hate I would call the Negan prequel only I’m not sure who is scarier. T-bag’s Robert Knepper has been in a few series or movies I’ve seen over the years (I swear he was ‘staunking me’) One was the CW ‘Cult’ and most recently he has had a small part on iZombie, so he I haven’t missed so much even though he’s in my Top 3 faves on the show.

Then for those of you not familiar with the original Prison Break, but watch the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, you will recognize ‘Captain Cold aka Wentworth Miller aka Michael Scolfield and Dominick Purcell’s  Mick Rory aka heatwave (I think that’s the name) from those shows.

I’ve read you can watch this even if you haven’t seen the original, tough it would deepen the experience and so you’d get any possible references. If you are familiar with the original four seasons also there are some easter eggs. For those of you already familiar with the show big time thinking cap show. Coded messages, riddles and so on. That was one reason I like the show when it first came out in 2005 or was it 2006, because 1 it wasn’t reality crap, 2. it wasn’t some procedural 3. it was an actual story, I like the mystery of it. And the whole tattoo hidden clues I loved.

The abbreviated ‘season’ will have 9 episodes from what I’ve heard. One thing to do is Read the Odyssey if you haven’t and again if you did so you get some of the ins from the pilot.

The reboot idea started in 2015 with the stars of the show who reunited on the Flash and later Legends of Tomorrow  and approached series creator Paul Schuring. He was on board and Fox jumped at continuing the global phenomenon.

Why this is a reboot to watch… because it’s not really a reboot, it’s a sequel!

It’s a perfect blend of our old ‘friends’ and some new faces. While its an ‘old’ show brought back, it’s in a sense made new again, (as each season previous did). That is one of the big problems with so called reboots regardless of if its a movie or TV series. 95% of the time they don’t have the same heart, tone, pace  and so on (like Independence day to the new one) You need to improve from the original like the Lethal Weapon tv series did from the movies. It’s updated, you have 2 great actors, love the chemistry and it has everything, plus it does re-enact some memorable scenes from the movies only BETTER!   The same with the pace, I watched the original movies not long ago they were boring compared to the show.  Now what NOT to do with a reboot? 1 word..Ghostbusters. While yes there are cameos of some or many of the original actors, those playing the actual ghostbusters are not improving upon the personalities or comedic talents and just are so not as funny as their predecessors. The humor was forced and that crappy looking slimmer were just 2 of the things that ruined it.

Labyrinth

2012,  Not Rated,  2 part total  2:56   John Hurt, Tom Felton, (never realized ‘That’ was him!)  Sebastian Stan Other cast

Based on the Kate Mosse novels lives are linked by a destiny to solve the world’s most legendary mystery.

This starts with an archeology dig in france I think it was (or was it italy) and one of the diggers finds a bracelet or something when a tremor rocks the area, though it does not seem anyone else notices. She finds a cave opening in the boulders that was not there before and goes in where she starts to get flashbacks of the 1200s.

While the father entrusts his book to his good daughter, Katie McGrath’s Oriane Congost is trying to steal the books for herself for whatever reason.

The Wisdom of the (holy) grail is contained in 3 books and the Labyrinth is a symbol of it.

The Book of Numbers, Words, and Potions.

I didn’t have trouble getting through the first part, which wasn’t all too thrilling but the 2nd part you would think would be more interesting, dramatic and a little suspenseful. It wasn’t.

Taken

10pm (est)   NBC  stars Clive Standen (Vikings)  Jennifer Beals , Gaius Charles   (IMDB)

Taken the tv series is a prequel to the movie series, that made Liam Neeson an action star in his mid-50s.

Its  the origin story of Liam Neeson’s Taken movie character Bryan Mills. to which we meet at 35 years of age, a former  green beret and yes ladies the character is single!  Although it’s a genesis series depicting the evolution of the character, it does take place in present time, and how the hero became the hero, before he had the full ‘particular set of skills’

Star Clive Standen a martial arts master who is best known as Rollo in the History series Vikings first had to shed some of his bulk of Rollo’s 220 pounds before filming.

Besides the trailers I was able to see the opening scene before the premier of the show, and between the two it looked like it was worth a watch (even if you are not in Vikings withdrawal) and a good action show. The first movie was pretty cool but then there were the sequels.
