Spread

2009  R  1:37  ? Rom  com?  Drama  AShton Kutcher, Sebastian Stan, Margarita Leviva & Anne Hecht

Nikki (Kutcher) is a womanizer of older well off women who he targets to use for anything for some sexual favors. When he meets waitress Heather the player gets played as she knows all his tricks and uses them on him but he doesn’t seem to realize it until he moves ‘her’ car.

At first its a whole lot of the same thing then a bit of a switch bu the characters are one dimensional, uninteresting clods er Sluts (heck technically hookers) That’s only watching for an hour and 8 minutes. Have to fast forward ahead, though I was surprised to see Eric Balfour in a scene.

I’d say skip it its a waste of time and feels longer than the hour and a half it is. It’s like slow torture watching paint dry (actually THAT might be more entertaining!)

Will

TNT  Mondays @ 10     Laurie Davidson, Olivia DeJonge , Mattias Inwood,Colm Meaney     IMDB

In the first episode ‘London Calling’ belts out and my isn’t the market a colorful place.

So what do you get when you cross Shakespear and punk? WILL

In a sense it sort of reminds me of the modern Romeo and Juliet movie from the 90s that Leoardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes starred in. Only this, is supposed to be in the time Will lived but has modern accents. Some of those outfits are too bright for commoners to afford IF even there were colors as vivid back then for clothing. The Audience during the plays look like they should be part of blood drive …or comic con with their colorful hair or face paint (maybe you could include Face-off in there too) Just that alone is entertaining.

I thought this was going to be a horrible bore that, the pacing would be slow and all but its actually enjoyable.

If that is what the theater make up really looked like back then.. then I think someone’s cosmetic bag melted on all their faces. (Either that or the toxic crap joker and Harley fell into)

I like the costumes and especially the one (in the first or 2nd episode) of the guy that I take is supposed to own the theater.

Definately a cool ‘Punkspeare’? eh doesn’t sound so good but I think you may enjoy it if you give it a few episodes.

And then there were None

2016,       Not Rated       1:57   Charles Dance   Sam Neil  Aiden Turne

So the description onthe netflix sleeve sounds a little like House on Haunted Hill to me.

“Ten strangers receive invitations to visit a mansion on an isolated offshore island” known as Soldier Island.

This was one of those slow build but still didn’t feel suspenseful. The first part had my full attention but there was a 2nd disk which I forget at  what point started to lose my attention.

So this was I had thought a 3-part series but I think it was only 2 parts. Interesting mystery though, I like how it revolves around the framed morbid ‘nursery rhyme’  that’s in every room

10 Little soldier boys went out to dine, one choked his little self  and then there were Nine

9 little soldier boys ………                   ^one overslept himself and then there were 8

Eight little soldier boys Traveling in Devon, one said he wold stay there, and then there were seven.

Seven little soldiers chopping up sticks,  one chopped himself off then there were six.

Six little soldiers played with a hive; a bumble bee stung* one then there were five.

Four little soldier boys going out to sea, a red herring swallowed one and then there were three.

2 little soldier boys Sitting in the sun, one got frizzled up then there was one.

One little soldier boy left all alone he went and hanged himself and then there were none.

Searched to see if it was a real poem or whatever you want to call it.. and YES it wasn’t just made up for the movie!

(here’s a different one NOT from the movie)

^ didn’t hear the beginning  but yet what I have doesn’t sound right

*um yeah….Bumble bees don’t have stingers I did a picture search not one stinger in one, they are the ones that do the pollinating)

Mercury Plains

2015  R  1:42  ‘Neo- western’     Scott Eastwood

Eastwood plays Mitch Davis who heads to Mexico with a friend, who disappears from the bar (and I don’t think is ever mentioned or shown again…WTF happened to him?) Mitch falls in with errr make that recruited to a para-military group fighting the cartel.

After watching it I realize I ordered it for dad.  Now there have been times that when I’e watched soemthing even though it wasn’t my taste I’ve occasionally like it… this is not one of those. This is definately NOT a buy for your library as a physical copy would et as dusty as the desert (and a digital one well I think would just kill your device!) not even really worth a rental (unless as usual you may be bored in a hotel or some place there is not much if anything to do)

Dog Gone, Back Soon by Nick Trout

Dog Gone, Back Soon (Cyrus Mills, #2)    Fiction, Animals, Humor, Romance

Wait how did a fish write a book?!?!!

Mom has one of those Reader’s Digest large print  book subscriptions. She had a few laughs at this and told me a couple of them. At the start (just a chapter or so in) a big Mastiff comes in, the kid Stu made brownies tells the vet its that chocolate toxicity when in fact it was pot brownies! The dog ate the plate of them!

Being as the book large print books mom gets are 2 in one and therefore condensed, when I got to the end of the book I was just like that’s all? That’s the end? I enjoyed reading the book but wasn’t happy with the ending as it felt like it was someone brushing lint off their shoulder.

I do think it would be cool as a movie tho (maybe a tv movie would end up on Hallmark or some girly station that would be awfully written and acted.

I’d say get the real book, as this just felt like it was missing something but I’m guessing it was just the filler.

Arrival

2016    PG-13      Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Forster Witacker, Ian Donnaly     1:56

Adams plays linguist Louise Banks who is approached by the military for her language skills after the landing of multiple space craft ‘land’  all across the globe. They haven’t actually landed as last I checked, you need to TOUCH the land to do so, but more parked themselves hoovering feet above.

Not sure I should mention what the aliens look like but then that WOULD be a spoiler!

The movie starts out interesting enough, aside from the fact of all the ships ‘landing’ making me think it was going to turn out to be a knock off of Independence day. However the movie declines for me the last half of the movie.

The whole time I thought the governments and military should only be a support system as a small group NOT running the whole damn thing. The aliens speak in what looks like a bunch of Oroborus designs

Legion

FX     Wednesdays 10pm   Marvel         Dan Stevens Rachel Keller, Jean Smart,

Set sometime in the 1960s or 70s  by the looks of the styles.

Dan Stevens plays psychic David Haller who’s as usual in the X-men world his powers are both curse and gift. His father is supposed to be Charles Xavier The X-men’s Professor X!  It’s not a direct adaptation of the Marvel comics but it’s a trippy mesmerizing head trip that will stick with you.

David has some mind blowing explosive psychic powers which are equating into madness so because of his gifts, he is thought to be schizophrenic.

The nature of David’s psyche is that different people occupy his mind and have an influence on him at any given time, and so is institutionalized.  Where he meets and falls for fellow mutant Syd.  Since she does not like to be touched (because of her power) it’s a romance of the mind. David is rescued by therapist Melanie Byrd from the mental hospital and Division 3 (who the hell is division 3?) agents.

While Therapist Byrd insists what he sees is real,  the way it is filmed David nor the viewers are not so sure, aside from the maze of disturbing memories, or are they memories? Could they be future prognostications or a mind made mad from powers he has yet to learn to control?  How can one tell if we are in his reality or in his head? It’s not easy to watch, you need to give it your utmost attention to keep up. I usually put down my kindle to watch this being if you play games etc while watching it, you will likely need to re-watch it again.

He acts as both a force for light as well as dark at the same time in different ways. This is definitely a different type of ‘superhero’ show, and a break from all those others  DC or Shield wise. (Where do I get that psychotic bedtime story book?)

I would give a Binge worthy but the way the shows plays out, Your head might explode after watching 2-3 episodes in a row if you do!
