American Horror Story- Murder House (s1)

Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, Taissa Farminga, Evan Peters,

Themes: infidelity,  Death, Depression, Loss

A perfect blend of Thrills, Chills & Kills from current  residents to previous owners all the way back to Dr. Montgomery who had the house built. Based or at least inspired by some true life history    8 Creepy Stories And Inspirations Behind “American Horror …

I remember when the show originally aired I was loved the mystery of it as well as the story telling besides the ‘HORROR’ of it as well. While airing I had either already known of certain historical aspects mentioned in the show ie “Murder House’ as well as The Black Dahlia, and maybe even watched some discovery or History channel show on them or paranormal show even.

This is great for a drinking game (just add shots, chugs, drinks, etc in place of the exercises but I found a fitness routine (and added one)

Wait is that The Dracula music I hear….

10 bicep curls, Then 10 over your head pushing weights away.

The Spirit may not be willing but the flesh is weak

The Dead can hold a grudge better than most Scorpios

Mention of ROANOKE, Oh Demon child, who takes right after is father.

For some reason I don’t remember the last 2-3 episodes from when they were originally on, so it was like watching them as if I’d never seen the show before.

American Horror Story: Murder HouseWikipedia

Scoobynatural (Supernatural gets animated)

When I heard that there would be an animated Supernatural episode, I was like ok cool it will be the silly episode of the season.  was thinking lots of laughs along the lines of the ‘Changing CHannels’ episode. When I heard it having Scoobydoo in it I went all geeky and turned back to my Saturday Morning Cartoon self.

As far as the trailer goes, it looks like a legitimate cartoon made the old fashion way with those old ‘cells’ and color and not with a computer. If it were made that way I would be surprised. For me the only cartoon that has been cool as CG was Jimmy Neutron, although I have seen some new Voltron (force?) where its a cartoon but then when they make Voltron its CG which looks better and looks more like a robot. (the Garfield ‘cartoon’ made with CG looks like crap, and so does Alvin and the Chipmunks. If you want to enhance the experience like the Voltron I previously explained, that’s cool. All else, has no place other than thrown in one of the urns above and burned to ash!

Roseanne revival

See the source image

The original series ran from 1988 – 1997. It is one of the shows I am so glad they brought back  (yes I know I should be strung up and tortured for saying that, but sometimes, I do wish for curiosity sake or because I really miss ‘family)’. Now I’ve been watching the old episodes on one of the tv stations when I catch it on and aside from the 90s fashion, they are still funny. Ones I have seen umpteen times I still laughed at.

The coming attractions for the reboot sounded like Connor clan, just older. Yes the original cast is back even double Becky! Which there is a joke in the pilot episode of the new 2018 reboot. However, in the pilot of the reboot I did miss Johnny Galecki and Mark. In the new series, Darlene is I forget if its divorced or separated from David but he will be back for an episode however being as the actor Glenn Quinn that played Mark died in 2002, Mark is dead on the show. I didn’t hear how Mark supposedly died yet though.

The World of Vikings (Book Bind)

The Coffee Table Book of the Vikings TV series

I had been coveting this book on Amazon for a  year or so, hoping someone would buy it as a gift. As it’s a hardcover and buying it new I sort of don’t blame them for not getting me a copy, but I wouldn’t have minded a used one. I bought mine used …I think (with birthday money)  and so it only cost me $7 plus whatever shipping. (A big difference from the 30-50 dollar price for a new one and it was still like new anyway  (thankfully).

The book is full of full color glossy pages, with many pictures. Many of the characters are covered as well as places, set pieces, and other areas pertaining to the show up to the end of season 3 actually I think even some of the first half of season 4 is included.

I have been slowly reading it between books, or while I’m reading another book for a break. It seems to finish off with what was covered up to the end of the first half of season 4. (as aside from Bjorn, the Sons of Ragnar are not included so I hope there will be a 2nd book maybe when the series concludes.

The contents

Would be best for me to list some rather than just using the sort of blurry photo of it.

Part 1 Scandinavia,

Viking Scandinavia, Chapters 1-7 which consist of Home, Family,People, Gods, Legends the law and the Sea with their own topics under each.  The stories of each character, designing the village and Dressing Ragnar are other samples of things this book covers.

part 2  England- chapters 8-10 Christian England, Christians, Kings, Rivals and finally part 3- Frankia who has the last 2 chapters.  Creator and writer of Vikings Michael Hirst wrote the Forward and afterword

(if you would like me to detail the contents a little more drop me a line)

There’s also a section of sources if you’d like to read the sags, myths and legends yourself. After all the show is part history part fiction. So Hirst did take some creative liberties like making Ragnar and Rollo brothers. I watched a Youtube video that said the sons on the show are not really in the order of the historical figures being born (one in which Ivar is the first born of Aslug)

In the Forward and I do quote… Creator Michael Hirst Explains

“The First thing I need to say about my own work on the vikings is that it is a drama and not a documentary. The second, and equally important, thing to note is that drama is based on historical research and historical record. These two ideas are not, as some might think, contradictory.

Long before I start to write, I spend weeks, even months, rummaging about in account of Viking life, society, and culture, teasing out story lines and watching as various characters eging to emerge from the material and claim my attention. In this process I’m helped by our historical adviser, Justin Pollard, an expert on the Dark Ages. Justin carefully guides me though the labyrinth of Vikings myth, legend and historical account so that I know my narrative is as credible and as authentic as I can make it.

There are some seriously epic pictures in here as well (I took mine with my kindle as its easier to upload them)

They explain the Blood Eagle with a short interview with ‘Jarl Borg’ and the director of the season 2 episode 7 titled Blood Eagle  as well as the Director of Photography.  Designing the boats, there’s a section on the different tongues of the series and ‘swearing’ in old Norse. Which is more insults than what one would consider swearing. For instance some sound more like someone was playing with a Shakespearean insults kit…. just a lot less poetic, and sounds more childish.

“You have ugly sticking-out teeth, bug eyes and a wide mouth”

I hope they will make another book when the series ends (or after another 3-4 seasons) this way then I’ll have Ragnar’s sons stories as well. Which as much as I love Travis Fimmel and absolutely dreaded the death of Ragnar (which was originally going to be the end of season 1) The sons especially Ivar and Ubbe , have made the loss of Travis on the show much less.

This is a great look into the Tv series for any fan. As I re-read this to add any other comments I’m thinking they didn’t mention anything on Hedmund played by Kevin Durand, and am now looking through the book to see if my hunch is correct (I’ve looked through it a bunch of times before I even started to read it, so I don’t think I can even call it a hunch that it’s not in there.) Nope No Kevin Durand. Yes his character was a minor one, which had an impact on Sigurd as well as Aslug and the women of Kattegat

Oh I left off to read on Jarl Borg and the Blood Eagle. I don’t know about how other ‘coffee table’ books are but the way this one is written I don’t think you have to read more than a page or 2 plus you have the beautiful photography to break things up besides the character spotlight and behind the scenes explanations.

I’m wondering if I should do a video flip through of the book to add to this post; now that I have a laptop.

If this book doesn’t interest you as a fan of the show… Rollo says you are Berserk!

Come walk the red carpet where the fans are the stars

This year I got a little help from a friend!. This year  some of the categories stumped me, with others the choice was made as some of the ones I liked so much, are now forgotten so, by default the one I remembered most won. Then there were some that were equally good and I just couldn’t decide, so I thought to collaborate with my friend Rich from The B.A.R. on Youtube.  some of the picks are from Rich (and most of them, movies I have yet to see) though some we both had the same so that choice won.  So grab your ticket  and Nominees please remember to have your’s handy to be seated as well.

My appologies to the winners, my computer crapped out before I could make the code so you could add the trophy to your sites.

TNT  Mondays @ 10     Laurie Davidson, Olivia DeJonge , Mattias Inwood,Colm Meaney     IMDB

In the first episode ‘London Calling’ belts out and my isn’t the market a colorful place.

So what do you get when you cross Shakespear and punk? WILL

In a sense it sort of reminds me of the modern Romeo and Juliet movie from the 90s that Leoardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes starred in. Only this, is supposed to be in the time Will lived but has modern accents. Some of those outfits are too bright for commoners to afford IF even there were colors as vivid back then for clothing. The Audience during the plays look like they should be part of blood drive …or comic con with their colorful hair or face paint (maybe you could include Face-off in there too) Just that alone is entertaining.

I thought this was going to be a horrible bore that, the pacing would be slow and all but its actually enjoyable.

If that is what the theater make up really looked like back then.. then I think someone’s cosmetic bag melted on all their faces. (Either that or the toxic crap joker and Harley fell into)

I like the costumes and especially the one (in the first or 2nd episode) of the guy that I take is supposed to own the theater.

Definately a cool ‘Punkspeare’? eh doesn’t sound so good but I think you may enjoy it if you give it a few episodes.
