Hardcore Henry

2016    R   Blu-ray  1:35  Action Adventure Sci-fi  Sharlto Copley

Henry is a newly revived cyborg ‘alive’ for just 5 minutes when his wife is abducted by some power mad asinine jackhole! He’s running low an that’s on both battery power and knowledge of Moscow.

The movie gives you a first person point of view of the action as though you are in a simulator!

When I first saw the previews I thought why not make more movies like this? In moderation of course! Maybe 1 a year or every 2.  I liked the angel how they did it, great with an action movie but how would it work if it were a horror movie? I think if you have the right story it would work well with! Heck why not do 1 more fast and furious this way?!?! give US our own car (doesn’t have to be the whole movie just give us a chance what it looks and ‘feels’ like to see what the drivers see driving that fast and maybe during a stunt.)

Oh and there’s a time you’d swear you were playing a first person shooter game as you see the guns out in front of you like some of those games show.

WTF is this dude with the magic?? Is he another robot?

Wish I got a chance to see it in the theater as I wanted.

Supergirl

While Supergirl was on CBS, the only episode I watched was the Flash crossover. being as I watch Flash I figured it might be a good idea to watch in case something carries over from the Supergirl episode. With this one episode..

To me in the coming attractions and even this one episode I really could not stand the actress that played Supergirl,to me she came off as insecure/self conscious and there was something else I  still can’t quite pinpoint what it is or was, I could barely watch crossover episode, even with Flash in it.  Also I wasn’t crazy about the overall pace and storyline of the cross over.

So maybe others felt the same way as I in one way or another, and so with the show

Now on the CW for season 2, I thought I’d give it a try (well when its posted to the free on demand channel)

I still can’t figure out why CBS had the show in the first place, especially when all the DC comics shows are doing so well on the CW.

before I get to Supergirl herself  I will say I definitely did not like the actor portraying Superman…in this. I do wish ‘Smallville’ would make an appearance in some way ..sorry I should say Tom Welling and anyone else from that show, After all, this is a multi-earth/dimension universe. Well so far no ‘Smallville’ but we get Dean Cain!!!

So far she still comes off as… maybe its not insecurity but awkward to me and that’s WHEN she’s Supergirl. This is even as I finish writing this up in March (of season 2 with the finale likely to air in May). I would think the ‘Awkward’ and anything I didn’t like about a character or actor would have subsided by now. I do in a sense like the actress, she’s cute Kara wise, even when she’s perky and I hate perky but for her it works. There is still a little something there that bothers me when she’s Supergirl. I will also say the show is a lot easier to watch than when it was on  CBS.

Well if I didn’t watch it before or skipped an episode here and there… I’ve been making sure  I watch each week now that the charming Chris Wood (Vampire Diaries, Containment) in blatant CW fashion has yet again recycled (or is it re-purposed) him into another CW show. For him I’ll watch and see how his story arc goes. Plus I’m waiting for more crossovers of the collective shows…

I heard something about a possible musical but I don’t recall if it was flash and supergirl (which sounds really annoying to me) or maybe the crossover (nope… thankfully)… but I think a musical episode would have been better with Arrow (as long as John Barrowman was in it)

I do hope we get a mini movie with all the heroes in one show (one epiosde) at some point…maybe a 2 hour TV movie special. That would work well as a follow up on (or lead up to) a crossover story or the best way is to finish a season, and even better use for a series finale!

Hello @CW @DC do you hear me!!!! I’ve got some ideas for your show(s)!!! Make.It. Happen.!!!!

(Can we make the #ArrowMusical happen?  I saw @Stephen Amell & @JohnBarrowman singing at SDCC   (San Diego Comic Con)…

Definately IMPROVED (and saved)

the CW Invasion ~ Heroes vs Aliens

Based on the 1988 comic book miniseries Invasion! event from Keith Giffen, Bill Mantlo, Todd McFarlane, and Bart Sears, the plot of the story is The Dominators descended on Earth to bring an end to the “threat” of Earth’s burgeoning meta-human community.

So Supergirl kicks the whole thing off, however I don’t think I qualify it as cross over material. We just get what turns out to be a few time holes that pop into this scene or that and at the end (like the last 30 seconds…literally!) Barry and Sisco show up . For me that’s just a Supergirl episode, now if they had popped in half way through and participated more in the epiosde I would consider that a cross over. So as far as her episode goes, I’m not happy with it. If this were still on CBS I would chalk it up to that but sadly for me Barry and Sisco feel like they were just added to the story at the end and of course the time holes too.

I will be re-watching the shows but this one I won’t as I do not recall anything in it having to do with the Aliens (aside from Supergirl herself and Mon-El)

I hope the Flash’s entry into the crossover event will be better.

Westworld

2016   HBO  series   Sci-fi, Action, adventure, drama,Anthony Hopkins, Luke Hemsworth,  James Marsden, Ben Barnes, Diego Santoro, Clifton Collins Jr, Ed Harris

So in the first episode one of the people that work in (whatever you call) the room where they talk to the ‘Hosts’ for some reason the guy seemed familiar but I passed it off not knowing who the actor was (as in a movie I saw them in nor a name wouldn’t come to me)…

The first episode I wasn’t sure if I liked the show, but did find it sort of interesting; though no idea what the heck was going on at the moment. I just thought it was supposed to be some modern day western when I saw the coming attractions for it, that plus James Marsden is in it. I found who the a*hole is in the show and I quite like Anthony Hopkins character as a future candyless Willy Wonka type. He’s the creator of the West world which costs $40,000 a day! (is that to stay there? WTF how much are people making in whatever time they are in?)

There’s some guy in this he’s security I think, that seems familiar but I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything before oh well I’ll eventually figure it out or look it up.

There’s a lot of characters to keep up with, I can’t remember all their names I know the madame is Mae,Bernard one of the heads in behavior and I think that’s all I remember, plus Ed Harris’ character just known as the Man in Black. Could he really be this Arnold Ford’s partner in creating this world?

and I knew THAT guy looked familiar.

It’s quite an interesting show, and I feel as though there’s some hidden mystery to it. While watching things unfold I think the only characters I do like is Doris, Ford (the creator) and James Marsden of course besides Luke Hemsworth but he’s not in it enough to really get to like or not his character. As for Ed Harris I don’t like his character but at the same time I get the feeling we are supposed to be unsure about him.

as for Binging, I think a long marathon would be pushing it, maybe 2 episodes at a time or 3, but then again if you are in a hotel bored out of your mind cause they charge to much for anything worth watching, then definitely binge away!

Doctor Strange

2016   PG-13      Marvel  115 minutes  Action/Adventure/Fantasy

stars       Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams  Mads Mikklesen, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benjamin Bratt       imdb.com

WOW! That Opening certainly beat DiCaprio’s bendy Inception!

The shifty Scenery is more mind blowing than just bending.

So the cause of the accident that ruins Doctor Strange’s hand, he was driving not only super fast but talking on the phone as well. I honestly feel bad more for that car than the doc. However as far as the Doc’s hands go, I can relate in a way.. as I have been having a problem with my right since the beginning of 2016….to the point I quite often get very frustrated as I cannot pick things up, or write.

Well there is certainly a lot to take in during this movie as far as the scenery goes. There were times like those scenes with the moving walls I didn’t know what to focus on, or where to focus. For this movie it may be best to sit in a row more towards the  middle of the theater!

During The Doctor’s research into getting his hands back, a file is taken from archives for him, on Jonathan Pangborn (played by

Bemjamin Bratt)   who was a former patient of Strange’s that was somehow paralyzed, and turned away by the doc; however he some how found a way to be able to walk again.

Surrender Control to gain control

Doctor Strange    ~ ‘What’s in the tea….LSD?  (after a trippy scene.)

Ancient    Have you seen that before in a gift shop?

No one knows how old the Ancient One really is,  only that she’s Celtic (me thinks Druid, is more likely)

There’s Sanctums in New York, London and Hong Kong that protect the world

They use the mirror dimension  to practice and observe as what happens there does not interfere with this reality, however dark sorcerers can be more powerful  in it

The infinite  multiverses = infinite dangers

(no really? gods that sounds too much like the over done Spider-man  “With Great power…..” line)

There are mild funny instances  but not like the laugh out loud  ones we get from the Avengers movies characters.

Kaecilius: Mister

Strange: Doctor

Kaecilius: Mister Doctor

Strange: Strange

Kaecilius: We’ll see

However they did the ‘moving’ sets practical, CGI or a bit of both I LOVE them! I hope the blu-ray will have a Behind the Scenes of how they did that in the special features. Plus I can’t wait to do some lay pause/slow motion to see it unravel slower. The make-up FX love the purple and ‘scales’ around Mads eyes (almost makes me think Captain Hook from Once Upon a time will show up and call him Gator or crocodile.)

Another Favorite is the Cloak of Levitation, it most certainly has a sense of humor of its own and those are the times the room was a well of laughter! (especially during a fight scene) Then there was that set of hand…errr make that body cuff.

Am I the only one, but does Dormomu, the face in the stars look a lot like Thanos to you?

Now THAT…Was an adventure! Though I’m not sure if I like this or Civil war better than the other, but then they are 2 types of movies.I’m somewhat speechless aside from the notes I took while watching the movie, so  I think I’m going to need another view as I think the first viewing put me into a shock of sorts.

Time Kills Everything

2 Easter Egg scenes- one with Thor and the other well you’ll just have to wait to watch!

For those of you with an Alamo Draft house near you as an Alamo Victory member I am a Victory member. This movie marked a milestone and I reached the Fighter Level which got me a free non-alcoholic  milkshake. So I ordered a Chocolate Peanut Butter one and found Bliss in a shake!I think they make it from scratch as there were chopped peanuts in it and not globs of peanut butter (or syrup) like most places do.

2016    tv series  CW adapted from movie

I remember I watched the movie with Dennis Quaid and liked it at the time, though aside of what it was about I really cant remember it. So thanks to my regular show being switched to another day and have not yet started and nothing else being on the same night as the pilot, I gave it a try.

In the series its the daught in our present 2016 and the father in the past in 1996. Its interesting and from vampires to zombies…. having been and still being a trend for tv series apparently time travel is the new trend be it leteral or figurative. This one being technical…as only speaking to the past and changing things by the past person changing circumstances. Meanwhile Legends of Tomorrow and Timeless being the actual time travel shows, I think we may be in for more shows of this ilk.

As for this, the father was a cop but was double crossef and killed. The daughter grew up to be a cop, and now though apart, father and daughter solve crimes together. They sometimes send evidence and other things the way he’d get her birthday cards and gifts to her, a tin can irvwas it lunch box buried near the house, there’s aslo the crawl space.

I enjoy watching this to see how they work together, and how the present and past come together to solve crimes.

The 5th Wave

2016  PG  Cable     Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Robinson,  Alex Roe, Liev Schreiber, Ron Livingston,  imdb

The Alien ship(s) look like Spikey floating islands

While watching the movie I am glad I waited for cable to watch it, It’s not even worth a dvd rental (and I wouldn’t waste my time with streaming it…)

Even checking out an article I wrote on How to Write a review and what criteria to cover was not even able to help me find ways of writing about the movie, which likely means it’s that thin and unoriginal of a storyline aside from the

1st wave  cut power & electronics which cuts communications

2nd wave is the literal sense of the term a giant wave of water to flood (are they terra forming?)

3rd wave  another bird flu?…. Infection of survivors of previous wave and eradicating the weak?

4th wave infiltration & inhabiting human form

5th wave Maniulate and invade rid the survivors of their humanity and enslave them.

(that’s at least what I got from them)

I cannot remember anything really exceptional happening aside from the giant wave and Chloe character being ‘saved’ by some hottie.

Shriber’s speech still in no way compares to that of Idris Elba’s from Pacific Rim not sure it was the power in the voice or the speech (or both)  but I can still pretty much hear it in my head any time I think of that movie!

There is one part which Moretz just not good with the acting. She’s rolling down a hill and has a Teddy Bear in her hand and instead of when she bounces or something and letting it go you see her just throw it. (You COULD have protected your head with it at least)

stream it on amazon  or read it
