Boy the article Benoit Blanc Is Back on the Case wasn’t kidding! Sadly I’m not able to find a plot summary, all IMDB says is “Benoit Blanc returns for his most dangerous case yet”. What does the title Wake Up Dead Man mean anyway? The first movie title came from a radio head song, and Glass Onion from a Beatles song of the same name. Maybe if we could find where “Wake Up dead man” comes from, we may have a hint. turns out Wake Up Dead Man shares its title with a 1997 U2 song off their album Pop.

Glass Onion a Knives out Mystery

Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is back in director Rian Johnson‘s new film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Plot details for the movie have been carefully guarded, but it seems safe to say that everyone’s favorite southern-drawl-sporting detective will be chasing down a fresh set of clues. A quick look at the cast list suggests an entirely new set of characters eagerly awaiting their chance to deceive the gentleman sleuth, including Ethan HawkeKathryn HahnEdward NortonJanelle MonáeDave Bautista, and Kate Hudson.

2022 PG-13 Det. Benoit blanc is back and peels back the layers of this sequel mystery surrounding a tech billionaire and his friends in Greece. Definitely set during 2020 lockdown A politician, some ‘starlet’ the tech billionaire, Duke, bertie(?) and more have all received boxes from Miles.  Turns out their delivery is a puzzle box. How do all these people know each other aside from this one person. Ok I like her style! One of the possible guests decides to go about the puzzle using their brawn not brain. (I feel the same way as my cousin gave me a novel you have to solve 10 puzzles in solve the puzzle you get a code which you decode to find the next page you go to. Well sadly just as their first puzzle is a visual puzzle, I’m stuck on a visual. I believe they called it a stereogram in the movie, but the books of them were called “Magic Eye” I am stuck on that sort of puzzle in my book. Sadly even when I didn’t need glasses I was only able to see one once.)

Pool party for the “Disrupters” and Craig gave me a chuckle when he was walking in the pool with his drink. Batista in a speedo (Thank gods I watch wrestling and was ready for that haha)

Hudson’s character ‘Birdie’ is so annoying. Purposeful or not….really bad acting. I mean even bad for if it was supposed to be bad acting. “People think Birdie is disruptive every time she opens her mouth” I do like her rainbow dress though.

Her assistant or whatever she is, begs Miles not to release something cause if it does it will destroy Birdie, and therefore her as well

Whiskey is Miles too young for him girlfriend (or something)

Lionel a Scientist is the first to start figuring out the puzzle. I’ll have to try his trick. Ah he’s a chemist which turns out he made a new (efficient? power) source. What looks something like a crystal, which is what is powering the Glass Onion and is not happy with Miles as he wants to have it public by the end of the year.

Andi played by Janelle Monáe tells them all what they really have in common

Claire a bland politician, soccer mom Who laughs at a particular Painting ‘Front and Center’.

The Painting has to me a seeming wonky system as every time someone’s phone makes a notification ding, it opens, again then closes.

Time to have some cocktails before they kick off the murder mystery. AND THERE’s THE RENNERS Hot Sauce.

Blanc is already solving the murder at meal time, and Miles Braun hasn’t ‘died’ yet… then part of it happens. Still having a laugh at that,

He tells Miles its NOT a game, that everyone really does want to kill him and more or less why.

How were these people all friends ? Now they all gang up on Andi, but I don’t think I’ve heard an actual reason they’re mad at her.

The murder game didn’t go as planned, however someone does go down, it just not the targeted person. Someone in the shadows has Duke’s gun, and shoots at Andi through a glass pane.

Turns out one of our ‘Disrupters’ has a twin, which truly becomes a disrupter! . She brought the box to Blanc.

Turns out one of our ‘Disrupters’ has a twin, which truly becomes a disrupter! . She brought the box to Blanc. The Disrupters all would hang out at the bar The Glass Onion (not sure but they owned it together or just Miles did) Someone came up with a diagram for something, and Miles posted one of his own. (They don’t look identical, however Andi’s is missing)

There’s also a Bottle of the Renners Hot Sauce in Blanc’s pocket at one point in the movie.

Not as interesting or intriguing as Knives out.  I’d say I saw killer coming, it may be be a ‘knives out movie’ but its no Knives out… for me this was predictable

Just as the first time watching it, I lost interest about half way through. I hope this was a sophomore slump, and the 3rd movie will be more interesting.

knives out

It may be a week late, but this year I seem to get 2 movies for my birthday. Last week I saw 21 bridges (and sadly no birthday offer from that

theater) So KNIVES OUT is the official birthday movie of the year. I not only got to see the movie free being in their rewards program, but as I have the rank of Captain (I think it was) I also got a free Popcorn!!

If you are going with a bunch of friends, I’d suggest making things interesting… do a who done it pool. You can each throw a dollar or so in a pool BEFORE the movie starts, Or you do a friendly bet, the losers pay (or buys drinks for everyone after) If you want to make it even more interesting… go the whole clue rout, what character, Weapon in what room? (that can break up any ties). THere was a nice couple a couple seats down from me, and I joked about this and said 2 characters names and why I wanted it to be them… Don’t worry i’m not going to ruin ….was I right? You’ll have to read the whole review for the answer!

Logan Lucky

2017   PG-13  1:59  Comedy Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Daniel Craig, Katie Holmes, Sebastian Stan, Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane  more on IMDB

A pedal to the metal comedy that revolves  around a heist by two brothers during Nascar’s Coca-Cola 500 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. The bar Adam driver’s Logan brother works in is ‘Duck Tape’ gave me a laugh when I’d see it. Just sounds wrong for a bar. Daniel Craig looks funny like that and even more so sounding like a an American with a southern accent. He is bad ass looking, but not scary enough for someone in prison.

It was not out right funny, more like most of it fell flat or you laughed to yourself about it. Certainly NOT a laugh out loud comedy.  I was surprised Sebastian Stan I guess you could say had a bit of a cameo, playing one of the drivers. Speaking of which, the film was filmed during the actual Race, so i an just imagine how they had set Stan’s racing scene up (of course besides a stunt double) if they didn’t just change the colors and number of the car with some computer program instead. There’s so many way I can think it could have been done, or maybe all of them were used. I do believe I also saw his best friend and trainer in the movie as well.  Seeing him in the movie put a smile on my face (something I haven’t been doing much of lately).

I can’t say I’m a fan of any of the stars of the movie aside from Sebastian of course but he’s not a main stay. I’ve seen Driver in a few movies and he just seems to always stand there even if he has something to do its like he’s rooted to the spot, I thought it was just in one of the Star Wars new movies but sadly I don’t see why he’s in ‘big’ movies.  Tatum I can at least appreciate as he doesn’t seem dead in the water in his movies but for some reason I still try to limit watching anything with him in it.  I still think Craig was a bad move for Bond and heck if he really is over doing the role, why not Henry Cavill for a young version (maybe a prequel series?) or Idris Elba

Honestly for some reason I didn’t think they were going to pull it off, I will give you that I mean the heist not the movie but I don’t remember it doing well in the theater. Shame they didn’t do an alternate version where it goes sideways that something goes wrong.

its average at best

there’s nothing really impressive to ‘write home’ about.
