I was reading Entertainment Weekly’s interview with the ladies of Black Panther (#1502  Feb 16 2018) and I think it was the Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira that said

Amai – African word of respect (or its respect for elder women) I think all women are considered mothers even if they are not. (or something like that)

Chadwick Boseman – T’Challa   is King and the nation’s protector asBlack Panther

Danai Gurira -Okoye  the General in charge of Wakanda’s defense and head of the all-female ‘Dora Milaje‘ secret service

Lupita Nyong’o- Nakita who steals the king’s heart and Wakandan spy

Letitia Wright –  Shuri , T’challa’s little sis  and a sort of female Tony Stark as she’s the Vibranium Gadget maker

Angela Bassett – Ramonda the Queen mother

Forest Whitaker – Shaman Zuri      Forest Whitaker’s ‘Black Panther’ Role Has a Big Twist

Michael B. Jordan- Killmonger

Andy Serkis- Ulysses Klaue

Winston Duke-M’Baku leader of the Gorilla tribe

I saw this at Alamo Draft house which had a Black Panther themed specialty menu I forget the names of the items but they were made with African spices. I got the popcorn which was called

‘Niter Nibah’ I forget what the spices were on it (and sadly I cannot find the specialty menu on the Theater website) So I’m not big on hot spices but I do like a little bite on occasion. I had one piece of popcorn and it must have had a mass of the spices on it and I couldn’t eat another piece til my soda came. The last few movies I’ve gone to I guess were on Tuesdays which is discount day and I think before 2pm as they have it at that time where you can talk etc but they don’t put up the pre-show clip show which I really like. It’s one of the reasons I go there for my movies.

Before the movie they had a PSA of sorts with Chadwick boseman who just gives us the staredown, so we don’t use our phones. “I’m watching”

Black Panther takes place shortly after the events of Civil War. Wakanda, the beautiful and technologically advanced (fictional) African nation which has remained isolated from the world will soon be ruled by T’Challa as King.  It looks like a paradise, then you pass through the invisible border and you have an industrial city bigger than New York, Toronto, and any in the state of California put together!

The political story of whether or not to share their knowledge and help struggling countries as well as communities of their African American cousins where Eric Killmonger grew up. In a sense, they are enslaving themselves by not helping the world or sharing (though I understand they wouldn’t want the vibranium getting in the wrong hands).

I’ve heard praise for Eric Killmonger’s antagonist that he is the most layered of MCU villains (besides isn’t he the first human villain?). This is a fight not just fueled by or for power, but for the relationship between Africa and their African-American cousins as well, and rightfully so considering a bit of a twist (that wasn’t part of his origins in the comics)

I saw in the trailer there was a some Lion King looking scene and other’s have sounded not happy with that. Its a spirit world (see the ‘easter egg’ videos below for the name) that when you take the heart herb it not only heals you, gives you strength and speed of the Black Panther but you also are able to speak to your ancestors.

Oh that holographic car chase? How does it happen that it seems to become solid? I’ll let you think about it until you see the movie if you haven’t already.

The movie also throws out political opinions on current events as one of T’Challa’s guards (I think Danai) says

Guns, So Primitive

(frankly, I agree also, if you are not the military, police force or something of the like and I see you as a coward. I don’t need a gu In as when need be I  can be QUITE resourceful)

I have to give a thumbs up to the Costume Designer Ruth E. Carter designed the Futuristic but ‘ancient’ traditional (fictitious) African nation from researching not only African tribal fashions from around the continent but patterns, colors, and silhouettes.   Check out some of the awesome costumes here  I’d like to see something about those weapons esp. those ‘frisbee’ disks.

I would love a necklace that has an outfit in it for emergencies.

Andy Serkis is hysterical in the interrogation room, well for us he is, for him he’s I have no words but if the character is on something, Id like some of that happy juice!

And T’Challa has a cool new catsuit… which looks SO much better than the last batsuit!

A bit of fun at the end and how sad after 10n years of Marvel movies people don’t have a clue to wait til the VERY end of the credits that there’s another scene! SO many people left.

The first easter egg scene I think would have been included in the movie itself, before the end with T’Challa and his sister, the one to really wait for WAS the second one which I was thinking might have something to do with the end of Civil War and a nod to infinity war. And the person was referenced in the movie “Another white boy for me to fix” as said by  Shuri.

Speaking of which I do love the sibling ribbing between she an T’Challa but then again I don’t have siblings myself, tho it’s not a jerky sort of thing it’s done with love and I guess to keep the king grounded.

Oh and I saw the Craaaaziest shield wall in this!

Boseman comes back on after the 2nd(all the way at the end of the credits)  Easter Egg scene  “I’m still watching!”

5 Best and 5 Worst Things about Black Panther from Looper

I found the whole movie to be quite good, though may be missing something. Unlike previous Marvel Movies Killmonger does not seem to get as much face time, though maybe for me, many of his scenes are not really memorable. I remember 2 or 3 only which are pivotal points in the movie.  Also is he the first human antagonist in a Marvel movie (at least from phase 2 on?) The first easter egg scene I agree, was not needed but I wasn’t there for that one I was there for the one I had a feeling would be shown and thankfully staying through ALL of the credits paid off~ I’ll just hint that it was someone put once at the end of Civil War
