Goosebumps Say Cheese and Die by R.L. Stine

I read this one in a day and I read it just for that reason. Also If I catch the Goosebumps show on I still watch it. So sometimes its just nice to read a short book and I think I’ve heard of this story before. The kid finds an instant camera in an old house that takes photos of what will happen instead of what you are actually photographing. being it was just a bit over 100 pages I thought I’d cheat a bit and get another book finished for my Goodreads challenge (I think I have like 20 books to read and I have only read oops Only 10 and I’ve got 25 that was my target to finish)

Fear of Frying by Jill Churchill

Fear of Frying (Jane Jeffry, #9)This is the 4th or 5th book of this series I am reading. You can read them as stand alone books with no need to worry about something from a previous story coming up as so far I haven’t come across.

Wow I finished this in 4 days, but yes one of those days all I did was read. I ended up having a pain in my knee and just read the last (I think it was) 70 pages throughout the day.

A good summer book to read while camping or at camp, read before going back to school or once its over.

The title sort of gives a clue to the story.

Its the fall and Jane and Shelley are on a committee to check out a camp in Wisconsin for the school kids (They live in Chicago) SO they get out in nature and learn a few things as well. Sadly the best friends don’t get to max and relax for long. It rains quite often and one of them finds a dead body….then sees it alive again! No its not a horror story it’s a crime/mystery story.

If you do read this while at camp, or some cabin in the woods… you might get a little twitchy but then I always like setting the atmosphere.

Of course there are many suspects but which one is the culprit and who are the red herrings?  Bet its not what you think…

Friday Bind- War & Peas by Jill Churchill

War and Peas (Jane Jeffry, #8)War and Peas by Jill Churchill

A Jane Jeffry Mystery

In the Burbs outside Chicago next door neighbors Jane Jeffry and Shelley Novak Who’s (whose?) quirky community seems full of murderous intent, the two friends always seem to end up stumbling (or is it bumbling?) over corpses. They sift through the scandalous mystery of motives, agendas and gossip. It’s not all serious but it is definitely not as funny as the Stephanie Plum series.

This story there’s a Pea festival put on by the Pea museum. (really?) This year it even has some sort of war re-enactment as part of the entertainment (What does that have to do with peas? are they using pea shooters?) during which one of the museum’s employ is killed.

Why? Was it for the directors position of a small museum? Over some peas that are by name one’s inheritance or for some nasty words?

ooh it was who I thought it was, and they were my ONLY suspect. I didn’t fall for any of the Red Herrings. The writing has good a good flow definitely an enjoyable mystery. With most of the characters being likable except for a few bad apples and one really sour lemon! One of the characters, a lawyer has a very eccentric fashion sense.

I just hate that when I get off to a good start reading a book that it seems like getting the last 50 pages seems to take longer than it should, a page or 2 one day or a few more another when I should be able to read the last 50 throughout the day. But so goes life!
