something very bad

Jackson Oz studying the ‘event’

So far the chapters are short, well paced

“oz my boy sometimes I think this world would favours is nothing but a goddamn zoo.”
In front of oz on many screens were animals, all behaving very badly. Fathers really do know best, because the world was becoming a zoo , without cages.

No one seems to see the pattern of attacks, be it by city, or state the least.

H. A. C= human animal conflict. The theory he was working on. All animals no matter the species on every continent suddenly displaying hyperaggressive toward one particular animal, and this animal is us you me, man. An exponential increase of animal attacks on humans
animal attacks in last 4 years was double the average of the previous 50 year, For emphasis…. DOUBLE.

what started this concerted trans species evolutionary backlash against homosapiens?

Between the devil and the deep blue see (an expression I never heard prior to the book) the ‘devil’ is what old sailors used to call the seam between two hard to reach planks on a ship. In order to caulk it one has to suspend from a plank held over the water . if you fell in the ocean it was certain death. If you didn’t caulk the plank the ship might sink. either way was dangerous ditto you were screwed.
(Basically being between one bad, and a worse situation)

Reading the book today at least it seems the human character names are same. However the start to each is different maybe just switched around, in show Jackson starts in Botswana, in the book he gets a call from Abe that the lions there are the same as l.a. in chapter 8 or 9.

Mention to his (oz) first trip to Africa when he was a kid, the karoo (?) desert region, one of the clearest geological snapshots in the history of life. For thinking about was a layer if sediment from 250 million years ago completely devoid not fossils . the lack of in the rock was evidence of the permian-triassic (or p-Tr in geo shorthand) extinction event or “the great dying” the biggest baddest of earth’s major extinction events 90% of al! Species on the planet rapidly perished, and too many million of years for the earth’s bio diversity to recover. And statistically we are about due for one. What killed the dinosaurs is a K-T event and almost certainly caused by an asteroid impact.
The P-Tr extinction some theorize was volcanic activity or an asteroid or cosmic radiation. But no one know why almost all the animals, vegetation and insects in the world suddenly died.

It took many millions of years for the earth’s biodiversity recover. There have been five such major extinctions and statistically, we’re about due for one.
most certainly caused by an asteroid impact. But with The K-T event, the one that killed the dinosaurs,
not sure about P-Tr. Some theorize that the P-Trentin was caused by volcanic activity. Or maybe a
cosmic radiation. But no one really knows exactly why suddenly died. It was the mysterious nature of that ancient total geosystem collapse that made the present HAC unsettling. An animal’s behavior is the result of millions thousands of of years of evolution, thousands upon crations of adaptation. This evolution happens in response to changes in the environment. The environment change and some animals adapt to it, some don’t. To suddenly of serve such anomalous behavior in wildly different species animals all over the world wasn’t just alarming, it was precedented

I very very Literally had ants in my pants😂😋

The woman Jackson saves in this, the series didn’t use the description from the book….And though same name she’s a population ecologist

Intellectual Intolerance  (i like the sound of that)

Chapter 50 p2o2 jumps to 5 years later

Abandoned towns rusted bridges plywood windows overgrown with weeds slowly returning to nature

Things fall apart , the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world

So far the main differences from book to screen has been the characters. In this there’s no mitch. Jackson is both the scientist and to the supposed ‘nut job’ his dad is made to be in the show . Certain characters die in the book , while in the show its flipped. The jump ahead in the book is done in the show but who has the kid is different from the book.

Are there differences in what goes on… So so. So much happens in both with action and ‘research’ the one prominent difference from book to show is in the book in the beginning Jackson Lives in nyc, and has a 5 yr old chimp he rescued and he’s got the blog so in the show they split his character into a few others.

I liked how he likened NY traffic to an asteroid belt
“Dodging my way through an asteroid belt of early morning commuters”

as well as Describing a marine’s buzz cut
“His spikey high and tight made him look like he was wearing a hedgehog as a yarmulke”

Diplomacy without arms is like music without instruments

So the read has good flow and maybe the series was right to add a few more characters and not go the way of having many conferences with scientists (though why not at least one or 2) I think both the book and series equal out. Yes this is good for a summer read (beach/pool? its smooth flow is like laying floating among the waves, and every no and again you get a bigger wave for some action.

I have Zoo 2 the bookshot (its maybe 100 pages if that) I will add that review here (or so plan) once I read that.
