The blue looking part of this cover is actually purple. I love the way Purple and green look together. Plus that silhouette of a cat at the top could be my black cat, it would just need a pink nose.

I forget how many books in this mystery series I’ve read so far. I know I started reading them because mom had read one of them (I think the first but not sure) and she said the animals ‘talked’.

Not to the people silly! They talk to eat other and I love how that sass each other. They ‘help’ solve the crime or try to at least get the humans to pay attention.

In this, there’s a big centennial celebration for one of Willams Woods University’s Alum. During which when everyone has shown up.  Mariah, one of the board members has not shown, Tucker smells something in the manure pile (not a joke on that one).

As the story goes on others are found dead, while Flo (or was it Liz) has all the financials on the computer which just so conveniently crashed (instead of a hard copy and spreadsheet(s) to pass around to the others). Of course, there are also a few red herrings, as well as an old murder’s murderer unearthed while we slowly unravel the clues and personalities of the criminal activity.

As far as figuring out who did it… I had a suspicion of two people at the beginning of the book, one in which I was right.

The characters are intelligent (I usually have to look up I think at least 3 words a book I’ve never heard before)  They are witty, love their animals, and while they vary in age from (I think starting in their)  60s to hundred, they are some bad ass ladies! Including the 2 eldest. If a fictional character could be a role model (even mentors) I would pick Inez, Aunt Tally and Harry.

The books can be read out of order which for me is good as I never seem to be able to find a few books in order at a thrift store.
