Roseanne revival

The original series ran from 1988 – 1997. It is one of the shows I am so glad they brought back  (yes I know I should be strung up and tortured for saying that, but sometimes, I do wish for curiosity sake or because I really miss ‘family)’. Now I’ve been watching the old episodes on one of the tv stations when I catch it on and aside from the 90s fashion, they are still funny. Ones I have seen umpteen times I still laughed at.

The coming attractions for the reboot sounded like Connor clan, just older. Yes the original cast is back even double Becky! Which there is a joke in the pilot episode of the new 2018 reboot. However, in the pilot of the reboot I did miss Johnny Galecki and Mark. In the new series, Darlene is I forget if its divorced or separated from David but he will be back for an episode however being as the actor Glenn Quinn that played Mark died in 2002, Mark is dead on the show. I didn’t hear how Mark supposedly died yet though.

Atomic Blonde

See the source image2017     R   1:55   action/thriller but really Drama      blu-ray   James McAvoy,  Charlize Theron, John Goodman, Bill Skarsgard

Adapted from the Antony Johnston and Sam Hart graphic novel The Coldest City movie Atomic Blonde stars Charlize Theron and James McAvoy.  Theron’s character is a cold war spy by the name of Lorraine Broughton who must recover a list of double agents amid a sea of questionable allies one in which is James McAvoy’s British agent David Percival. Percival, as you might be able to tell from the trailers, has gone a bit feral with lots of secrets and possibly STDs while embedded in East Berlin.

A MI*6 agent is murdered in 1989 Berlin Germany and fellow spy is sent to investigate and retrieve a list of double agents the dead agent was carrying.

I would swear the fight scenes were a faster pace in the trailers but during the movie, they’re kind of a bore, like the rest of it is. The fight scenes feel like they are over too quick compared to many other films. I know, I know… always leave them wanting more, but not when the fights look as though they are in slow motion and swear you could do them yourself if you had the time to re-watch them to memorize the choreography. To give you an idea for most 1 on 1 fight scenes in movies, let’s say they last 5 minutes-15 minutes. These I’m sure are 1-3 minutes long if even. In other words, for an ‘action movie,’ there’s not much action. It should more have been marketed as a spy drama, as there is NOTHING thrilling about it. If I watched it at night, I would have fallen asleep.

When I checked at some point to see how much longer the movie would be on, thinking it would be 15 minutes left, there was still over an hour of the movie left. I am VERY disappointed in this movie, and so glad I didn’t pay to see it in the theater as for me it looked promising enough to see in the theater. I think a baseball or golf game would have been more entertaining to watch. Also who the actual double agent is… I wasn’t surprised.

10 Cloverfield Lane

2016  PG-13  1:45      John Goodman

A young woman wakes in a the cellar of a stranger after she is knocked out in an auto accident an auto accident. The stranger tells her he saved her from a chemical attack that has devastated the world. She doesn’t seem to believe him, even though there is one other survivor there.

Oh love the shower curtain… gotta find that one.

Now I was not a fan of the original, I don’t usually get motion sickness but that was one I did need Dramamine for. Compared to this, Cloverfield was better although all it seemed like was running from nothing the whole time with a quick glimpse here or there and even after the reveal you still don’t see much if any of the monster.

For me this was all too predicable, though kudos to John Goodman as he was scary good with his performance. My question though is how long were they down there before we join them, as he seemed a bit more like he’d been on his own awhile to get a bit nutty.

Even after dropping numerous hints and out right reasons to what is going on outside…and  that she should not open the hatch, she just can’t listen and wrap her head around that they are likely the only survivors in the area, and everyone she knows is likely dead.

They try to build and build up suspense but never do, there’s barely any drama either..
