You thought the 80s were dead, right?

Not in this slasher homage, whose opening scene which takes place in the 70s.  I’d compare (which I hate doing)  to a Texas Chainsaw Massacre style. Then we come to what is supposed to be the present day but it’s 1984 and Oh My GODs! The CRIMPED hair.  I would say they did a good job on the 80s fashions. I almost thought they raided some time traveling Closets (the Tardis anyone?)

Its some school dance and a goody-good is planning to go out with her friend, or is that friends? At the dance the Vice Principal, none other than Terminator 2 and Scorpion’s Robert Patrick keeps an eye on the kids, or so tries.

Goody girl and her group of friends get on a school bus and take off. Yeah, school buses in my day could be party buses or at least when there was no aide on the bus to keep us in line. So the bus runs out of gas and we all know that spells doom in any horror movie, and so are stalked by a killer.

Honestly I thought it was going to be predictable, but this slasher flick doesn’t play by the rules! One of the two girls that should have been a ”final’ girl” by the rules of horror movies.  Definitely a surprise or 2 in order of killings as well as cliches.

I would say it is modeled in a Texas Chainsaw style after seeing the full movie, but still fresh in a way. There’s even a spot where the film looks like it burned in the projector.

Uncharted

Off the Gulf of Mexico, a documentary crew’s private plane crashes on a remote island. The crew is there to try to film some rare animal.  The crew captures the carnage as some of the crew goes missing, it is found months later.

Paradise my ass, not so unless you are a rock diver.

I saw one of the creatures, it looked like someone dressed in animal skins and BAD ones too.

This was such a shit show of bad acting and a bore of a storyline for Tuesdays Trash, that this is all that was worth mentioning about it.

Basically, its just people dressed as animals that are cannibals NOT animals.

Amusement

20o7 R  1:25  Horror  Jessica Lucas, Katheryn Winnick

I thought this was going to be some sort of demented amusement park or funhouse because of the title.

Winnick plays Tabitha who is in a (near)O catatonic state while being interrogated by the police psychiatrist as to why she and her two childhood friends are being hunted by a serial killer.

Tragic secrets from their past are just dying to come out. Not to mention, this is the crap that happens when you don’t tell someone about that creepy kid, and his cruel ‘art’ for the science fair… its more along the lines of an express ticket to a padded cell (and the 10th level of hell I’ve created for people like this.) We see a few stories concerning the girls first, which lead up to the last. It’s almost like an anthology only its one whole movie with a little backstory.

Through the years the girls forget about the creep but apparently, he never does, making them his rats.

If you are in the mood for some dark horror *and maybe you could say morbid humor) then this is for you. I would make this part of a Halloween movie marathon as there’s a trick but its no avengers type treat.

Book Bind ~ Zombie Island

13004927A Shakespeare Undead Novel

by Lori Handeland

Pages 265

started april 9

finished  29

I don’t remember how I acquired this but I’m sure I got it at a thrift store, dollar store or something like that. Considering it said Shakespeare on it, I guess him as a character in a book interested me, oh and I guess the fact he’s a vampire in it helped as well!  Funny he doesn’t look like he would be, not even n the book cover does he have the physical characteristics that tell me one is a vampire. (takes one to know one 😉  )

Anyway aside from the two mentioned, the story interested me for some reason. I guess maybe I thought it sounded like a cross between Romeo and Juliet, and Walking Dead meets Lost?…

Back Cover Plot summary

In order to rid the love of his life the Dark Lady Katherine Dymond from the embrace of the encumbrance of her husband, Will concocts a plan to make her sleep the sleep of the dead. But of course as often is the case with true love, all does not go smoothly as planned. When the two are shipwrecked on an island ruled by a Wizard and a Nymph, and is infested with zombies, Will and Kate must stop an even larger plot aloof, one that leads to the royal palaces of Queen Elizabeth.

The Terror

By the way the featured image above looks, it reminds me of the posters for ‘The Thing‘ back in the 1980s. Could that be a hint to what we should expect?

Adapted from The book by Dan Simmons  The Terror: A Novel by [Simmons, Dan]

1846 A Royal Navy Expedition discovers a seemingly unseen predator in their search for the Artic’s Northwest Passage 200 miles away. They think it a very cunning polar bear, but just might be something bigger, and undiscovered.  The ships of the expedition are the Erebus (wasn’t that the name of the Vampire Bible in Blade?) and ahem.. Terror.

We open to a couple of text scenes one of which is “last seen by European whalers in Baffin Bay awaiting good condition to enter the Arctic Labyrinth”  then what I’m guessing is the aftermath of the events. Some Naval men speaking with an Eskimo, who is not only trying to relay a message left with him by the Captain (Francis)they call ‘A’Gluka’ but also trying to explain what happened to them, how or by what. ‘made of muscles and spells’ (not sure if he said walks on 2 and fours or eats on 2 and 4s.

When you start seeing your compass go loopy, it’s time to reassess your plans or at least have a plan B for direction. The first episode has a really nice looking, not sure if I should call it a rainbow but some sort of light anomaly in the sky.  When they hit some ice,I love how the  floating ice looks like lily pads.

As they race to beat the pack ice, one of the inhabitants of the ships falls ill and has an hallucination, or is it more of a forewarning, a premonition of sorts? Stuck, a group is sent to find some sort of help.

The group experiences hail the nice of baseballs (or maybe it was tennis). The predatory being attacks and I did catch a glimpse of a shadow coming out of the ice wall, it could be a very big Polar Bear or Wolf (talk about hunting tales making things bigger than what they are.. this is not one of them).

The show plays on suspense more than scares which is a good thing and hopefully, we’ll get a nice climatic reveal. Maybe even a scare for those of us that would like one. My only problem is that they aired the show at the end of the winter instead of July or August when we need to look at some cooling, calming ice and snowscapes. (if I could I’d live there. talk about picturesque. I wouldn’t mind seeing that out my window in the morning.

The Sick House

2008   NR    Horror  1;40   Gina Philips, Alex Hassell, Kellie Shirley, Andrew Knott

Anna, Played by Gina Philips (Jeepers Creepers)  an archaeologist (student) who excavates a 17th Century plague hospital in England which will be raised the next morning.  She is trying to find a way to save the building (I guess to make it a historic landmark).

When Anna finds an old metal box hidden away in a wall, she unknowingly unleashes the dormant evil spirits of the plague doctors. One in particular, is the brutal Cutter who is supposed to be the ‘Black doctor’ and the worst of them.

A party of four wild friends gets trapped inside and a historic evil ritual is played out with the trespassers as the sacrificial pigs. Now Anna’s project turns into not only trying to save the building from being demolished but finding a way for all of them to get out before they die.

Anna finds some drawings on the walls, which are a clue to what is going on. Are they a sight of things to come. One of the four seems to be displaying signs of the plague, but how or why?

Oh and just a note… there’s a bit of a twist.

First off, why would Anna even go into this place, without a mask first off with all the dust and who knows what lingers in the air? Also where there’s an abandoned building there is likely to be all the sorts of creatures ahem RATS, that would have carried the plague, why do you not have some sort of protective gear on you?

I Saw this once before, (and must have been before I had the blog, or I just didn’t have much to say about it then.  I accidentally rented this time as I was looking for THIS Sickhouse (but can’t find it on Netflix)

Jigsaw

Not sure why they were calling it Jigsaw as I heard it was supposed to be called Saw:Legacy When I search the title on IMDB.com it shows this sequel. I thought legacy sounded good for a sequel to a long running franchise (that has not had a reboot, remake etc). I guess with the title ‘Legacy’ that maybe that made it sound like the final installment of the series. So if that’s the case I understand.

I was taking a look at the taglines for the movie, and man do they have a list. Never have I seen that many taglines for one movie before! I even looked up a few movies I could think of off the top of my head and it varies by 1-4 tops.

So after John ‘Jigsaw’ Kramer has been deceased for a decade, he still seems to still be up to his old tricks, mmm make that traps from beyond the grave. Then again, didn’t he say his work would still go on? All the clues point to Jigsaw, I can’t remember did his assistant die in the last one? Could it be her, or a full on copycat?

So this time we play a game with a few bucket heads. As always there’s a reason for their punishment, but what is it this time? What is the one thing they have all done that brings them to this demented ‘tug of war?

I read that Saw 3D (2010) was supposed to be the last of the series, but the studio wanted to reboot it.  a Reboot (I think I’m going to have to define that a little better in my  when is a remake ok (Reboots, remakes and Updates) article ) You see to me for something to be a ‘reboot’ it has to be longer than 7 years sine the last one, also normally there are new cast members so if Tobin Bell is in the movie, then it does not qualify as a Reboot, only another sequel.

Ya know, I kind of was tired of the movies I forget at what point but I do know I only wanted to see Saw 3d because Chester Bennington (r.i.p.)  was in it. this one felt fresh to me for some reason, and I enjoyed watching it. I would say its worth a watch and if you have the rest of the movies already in your library, then this one is a definite. it is a mystery, but at the same time there’s 2-3 red herrings but which of them is it? or is it one of them? I’m trying to remember if any other of the previous movies has a ‘party trap’ as I called this one.

There’s one trap I did love but I really don’t want to ruin that one. Just get the blenders ready to make yourself a drink or smoothie before watching and THAT my friends is one beautiful ‘blood flower’ at the end!  (yes I can have a morbid sense of humor at times)
