The Predator

2018  R 1:47  See the source image action, adventure, Sci-fi, Horror

Boyd Holbrook , Alfie Allen, Keegan-Michael Key,Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Sterling K. Brown

I take this is a sequel considering the tag line (but honestly I don’t remember how many (minus alien vs. Predator) there are.

I don’t really remember the previous movies I saw them so long ago, but I’m thinking this one would be considered a comedy compared to the others.

After a jungle battle some allies in Latin America vanish and a crew of combat vets are dispatched to locate them, but all they find is dead bodies and an encounter with the predator. McKenna finds some proof of his encounter and mails it home.

Thomas Jane’s character has turrets and while its not a laughing matter it ends up creating some funny moments and lines, like when he has a gun in his face.

Its almost Halloween and McKenna’s autistic son has the choice between being a pirate and Frankenstein.  He answers the door when a package is delivered and opens it. Guess what he’s dressing as for Halloween! (forget the mask I want the arm thing.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

2018   drama, fantasy, horror

Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis,Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez,Tati Gabrielle, Richard Coyle,Miranda Otto, Lachlan Watson

Opening credits look like Archie comics, style and later Riverdale is mentioned; so I’m guessing one of those writers (or the same one) worked on both, or I should say the same artist.

After her parents her father being a high priest, and mortal mother die in a plane crash, Sabrina is raised by her Aunt Zelda and Hilda, witches of the church of night.

Sabrina is days away from her ‘sweet’ 16…dating mortal Harvey, hanging out with her friends Roz and Susie.  And raising feminist hell at school. All in a days work. This Sabrina’s so called ‘sweet 16, is bound to be a hellish one. As if being a teen isn’t hard enoughgoing to one school.  She has to go to 2, and basically ends up with 2 lives.

Multi-screen’s Top Movies of 2018

In no Particular order, well maybe a little

basically the first 2 I won’t count as it’s what we expect from  those

Marvel’s Avengers Infinity war which broke hearts and made some if not many of us cry;

and Black Panther the top action movie of the year.

I’ll number the rest (I just can’t decide what other movies to add.)

Ready Player one

The Belko experiment

Game night

The shape of water

Hotel Artemis

Going in Style

Terrifier  (Netflix)

15 Best Monsters of 2018

I definitely agree with ‘The Peaches’ on this. And as far as the picture used for A Quiet Place.. I’ll agree.

(Don’t agree on

The Shimmer’s Humanoid (Annihilation) (alien maybe but not a monster)

The Jötunn (The Ritual)   until I saw this listed I had totally forgot this movie.

Bent Neck lady of House on haunted Hill wasn’t that scary nor a monster.

Saw the flash Ragdoll and wasn’t impressed plus wasn’t; that same person part of the Hocus Pocus anniversary Celebration?

The rest of the entries, aside from insidious and Channel Zero I am waiting for from my Queue. Although I did watch Overlord. It was from 1975… don’t bother unless you like WW1 and 2 movies. I rented it as I thought it was the original to the over lord that came out in 2018. Sadly it wasn’t, but as a marvel fan and just loved Fitz in Marvel’s The S.H.I.E.L.D.  I had to see it. (plus I’m guessing its something like the ‘snow nazis’ movie (I can’t think of the name of that… ah  Dead Snow)

Sadly the ice cream man is a comic or graphic novel. So not sure if I’ll find that.

Don’t Watch This

2018   TV-ma   1 season of 5 Short films

Friendship Bracelet  Mean Girls (and their friends) watch out. There’s a junior doctor in the house. (I think the girls were supposed to be in college but the one girl looks like she is no older than Highschool.) anyway I was surprised even the nice girl was her prey. (9 minutes)

The Rig

2010    R   1:34  action Horror Advevnture

William Forsythe,Stacey Hinnen ,Scott Martin

With A tropical storm approaching, an oil rig tries to get some drilling done. When they hit dirt, a purple cloud  erupts and a fish attacks the navigational camera.

On the surface the call is made to start evacuating all non-essential personnel on an oil rig off the Louisiana Coast.

The few that remain get ready batten down the hatches and such and get ready for what will be a rough night. They’ll soon realize its not just the hurricane they have to survive but a voracious evil from the deep.

Monster movie. This felt more like it was from the 80s or even 70s than from the 2000s

Not much to say about it, other than its typical cookie cutter outline.

The monster is inspired by a really scary deep sea fish, which I find scarier than Sharks and most other things in this world.

Here’s an over exaggerated picture of said fish from Finding Nemo
