X-men Apocalypse

The usual suspects Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicolas Holt, Even Peters,James McAvoy, Sophie Turner with McGuyver’s Lucas Till (was he in the past ones?)

I don’t have much to say about this, other than we find out how  Charles Xavier becomes bald.

The plotline stinks, why does it seem centered on Mistique to me? Wasn’t crazy about Angel though glad he now has the sharpened wings. And s a few days later I can’t remember much (nothing that matters) about it.

It’s set in the 80s and starts in Ancient Egypt during a transfiguration Ritual (why not just call Professor McGonagal?)

Some ‘Gods’ or shall I say priests with the masks of their gods as well as soldiers around are protecting the body.

One of these soldiers who is supposed to protect what is going on is in on a plan against the ritual, and upon attacking gets folded up into a ball.

Later Charles Xavier’s school is burning down and Quicksilver goes to save everyone, one being a french bulldog which love the face like it’s in a car and its jsut not letting go of that slice of pizza!

Amusing the movie makes fun of it self!! saying the 3rd one always sucks and honestly.. I’m VERY glad I didn’t waste my money on it seeing it in the theater! I waited for cable!  Definitely a poor (below poor?) outing.

and EssexCorp. What is the Essex corp? I never heard of that before or don’t remember .

Honestly I’m not crazy about this set of X-men films… I like the originals better, but then I do need to rewatch those for a Class Cuts installment

2016 Pg-13  1:47  comedy  action

Dwayne Johnson &  Kevin Hart  Jason Bateman   IMDB

The comedy about the kid that was bullied no matter how big or small he was (and what that person could possibly become) looked funny in the trailers, but I saved that money for another movie as I thought they likely showed all the good stuff in the trailers or just wouldn’t be funny (esp. if the best parts were in the trailer…)

So one day I’m checking out what’s on and I got the chance to watch it on HBO in full before it came up on my ‘Q’.

It was mildly funny but a good laugh, in jokes as well as storyline (much more so than Ghostbusters was).

The Rock plays Bob Stone very computer generated obese student with a small girly voice from what I remember. He contacts his old school football hero Calvin, who is now an accountant.  Meanwhile there’s someone that is following Bob around that he’s a bad guy or some such.

The reunion is well worth the watch  and it put more of a smile on my face than the rest did especially the

“You look like a black Will Will Smith’ line

You could call this an action comedy and maybe is why it worked more than most comedies. Who is the Black Badger?

In parts Kevin Hart reminds me of a badger  but also a hyena the way he screams like a girl, that alone gives me a laugh.

The Secret Life of Pets

I’m so pissed! They changed the Song the Poodle listens to in the trailer from that Thrash metal to no idea what the hell that is now, but it’s not funny like it was.

2016   PG    Blu-ray  1;30  Animated, Comedy

Louis C.K. Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Albert brooks, Dana Carvey, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell,Hannibal Buress

Happy Terrir Max ‘s world is upended when his owner brings home the large bear of a dog and a ‘mongrel’, Duke  home.

The 2 find themselves allied against a mass of abandoned pets who want to turn the tables on the humans.

Gidget is a poof of a dog, more like a talking cotton ball! Chloe is a snooty fat cat, Peppe a Chihuahua and Mel I guess is a bull dog (which I later found out was actually a pug).

As I mentioned in the beginning of this about the trailer being changed,  I guess that was sort of a test or something.  Still LOVE the headbanger poodle, still cracked me up while watching the movie! Maybe I found it funny as that’s my choice of music but the movie or 2 I saw in theaters that had it in the previews the rest of the audience had a laugh too so I guess it wasn’t just me. (I guess it’s funny because it’s a prissy poodle plus goes from that classical musical to metal let alone THRASH metal!)

Now we get to the Psycho bunny which is either where Happy Bunny came from or the idea for it was taken from the “Cute But Psycho…Things even out  Happy Bunny stickers  (and the knock off version)

It’s enjoyable for the whole family especially if you are pet owners and I’d advise to SKIP NINE LIVES as this is a much better story.

The colors are so bright and vivid as though you;d never seen before.

“It’s poo poo with a dash of caca”

‘Great You’re in  love, How gross for everyone’..

-Mmm that sounds more like Grumpy cat but I think it was the Bunny.

L is for Lawless by Sue Grafton

L is for Lawless (Kinsey Millhone, #12)

Crime/ Mystery  adventure

Cast of Characters    Kinsey Millhone   Ray Rawson  Gilbert   Laura Rawson  Helen Rawson

Kinsey is a twice divorced no kids Licensed P.I. (private Investigator) who while on vacation (for a friend’s wedding) is hired pro bono to get down to the bottom of why Bucky can’t seem to get the benefits his grandfather is owed from being in the air-force. So far the military etc cannot ‘identify’ him. (as in find his military records, as the family does not know his serial numbers etc…) He had no money but an old friend Lawson shows up. He wants to rent the place out, though it is not yet available. He’s pretty mysterious and is not telling Kinsey everything he knows.

Chester and Bucky are dipsticks, good for nothing but checking the oil IF that.  When Kinsey stakes out their place and sees someone leave with a duffle bag, she goes in pursuit to get to the bottom of things.  First, she has to be atop everything., the duffle is going on a plane though for some reason I thought this might be a red herring. As after the person leaves the scene of the crime, they pick someone up and leave with what looks like the same duffle. So what is the deal?

Not only is it a mystery thriller, but is a bit of an adventure as well as it takes Kinsey to Texas and Louisville. Plus somewhat of a scavanger hunt or I should say treasure hunt
. I pretty much saw the end coming and speaking of which I could have just rad 3-5 of the beginning chapters and just the last 2 of the 226 page novel as there’s 25-50 pages of story that was really not needed.

The main deal is getting through the first half of the book, it took me a few days over a month to read as it started out slow and was built up too much and too long. The last 1-2 chapters is where the story actually ends. everything to me between the chapters mentioned is really filler (aside from a couple of clues)

This was the thinnest book (I have on hand)  in the series so I thought it would be a nice test run to see if I liked the writing. it’s ok, but definitely the rest of the books are better to read when I am not trying to read a lot of books so I can make a dent in my pile!

Labyrinth

2012,  Not Rated,  2 part total  2:56   John Hurt, Tom Felton, (never realized ‘That’ was him!)  Sebastian Stan Other cast

Based on the Kate Mosse novels lives are linked by a destiny to solve the world’s most legendary mystery.

This starts with an archeology dig in france I think it was (or was it italy) and one of the diggers finds a bracelet or something when a tremor rocks the area, though it does not seem anyone else notices. She finds a cave opening in the boulders that was not there before and goes in where she starts to get flashbacks of the 1200s.

While the father entrusts his book to his good daughter, Katie McGrath’s Oriane Congost is trying to steal the books for herself for whatever reason.

The Wisdom of the (holy) grail is contained in 3 books and the Labyrinth is a symbol of it.

The Book of Numbers, Words, and Potions.

I didn’t have trouble getting through the first part, which wasn’t all too thrilling but the 2nd part you would think would be more interesting, dramatic and a little suspenseful. It wasn’t.
